I received this graphic novel from Netgalley.

This will be a short review, the words just won't come for this book. I have never really read the original Little Women, and never will have plans to read it. However I am always interested in retellings, and this one has witches! It was quite an interesting read, though at times also very boring. I felt sad for Jo and I still don't get why everyone is treating her the way they do. She seems quite powerful, and really, you can see what happens when you hold her out of everything, it goes wrong. Bonds are broken. I loved Laurie, he was such a sweetie. Not a fan of Amy. Whodunnit was very nice and I hadn't expected that person. The art was quite fabulous. Also does it end with the girls in the living room or is my copy broken?

I've read Little Women numerous times since childhood (and read the whole series a long time ago). The similarities and differences with the original were interesting.

Cute critters!

'Little Witches' by Leigh Dragoon is a retelling of 'Little Women' by Louisa May Alcott in graphic novel form.

Take a beloved book about 4 sisters. Make them all witches of different types. That's what this is. The March sisters live in Concord with their mother. Father is at war. Stern aunt helps them out grumpily. New neighbors move in and they appear to be witchhunters. Also, things start disappearing around town, like a cow, or a woman's husband. The young ladies decide to use their skills to solve the mystery.

It's a very charming adaptation and it works surprisingly well. Sometimes when things like this get merged, it can feel tacked on. Here the relationships feel just as real as they do in the original, and the magic use is worked right in to the story. I enjoyed reading this one.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Oni Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This was an odd take on a classic novel. I enjoyed it, but some of it left me wondering why it was written in the first place. It didn't really add to the story, and it felt like the author was trying to cram lessons in where they didn't belong.

Interesting adaptation, enjoyable world building. I did honestly think that Beth's illness was set up for her death, but apparently that will not happen in this first instalment. That was a nice reprieve. The world of mages with their own sets of acceptable and outlawed magics, and a separate witchfinder force to police them, makes for a unique setting.

This book is a retelling of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott but with the sisters being witches. I really enjoyed this book. I have read and loved Little Women so I knew the basic plot going into the book but I was pleasantly surprised to read all of the changes that were made to the original book. I was very glad that the author didn't change the sisters personalities that much, they were essentially the same as in the original just having added powers. I think this book is geared towards middle grade kids, especially girls. This would be a fantastic addition to any library or home library for kids that age. I think it has a great message about how to get along with your siblings and how not to be envious of things that you don't have. Overall I highly recommend this book.

(I did find one instance where the person that was speaking repeated the speech bubble in the same panel. Other than that I didn't not see any lettering errors through out the book.)

The story was entertaining and had some attractive scenes, but it was so simple and linear most of the time that I couldn't get into it. However, I would buy it for a child; something tells me anyone younger than me will enjoy it more than I did, maybe even adults that read the original story, which I've never been interested in getting. Good reading, though.
