Diary of a Whimy Kid was a fast and at times humorous book. This book is definitely age appropriate because I found the main character a tad immature. Nevertheless I think this series would be awesome if you are looking for a middle grade series to start!

I read all three of these books in one night. They were pretty funny but the wimpy kid is really just a self-centered DB, so it was impossible to like him. He got pretty annoying after awhile.
