war and peace has nothing on this work of art

don't ask me why i just read this

My ten year old reads these for fun, so I picked them up when I was stuck in bed with the flu. I have to say that I appreciate them more now that my son is older than when I taught middle school years ago. Ha.
funny fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Jeff Kinney has been able to picture a wonderful realistic fiction and an amazing first person view of the situation, and the character’s personalities are vivid with real imaginative perceptions. As you read you seem to flow through the pages, as if you are inside the middle school.

This book is hilarious full of humor love the how it looks like a journal I hope Jeff Kinney makes more definitely bights my day.

It's such a fun and laid back read. I really liked all the characters all of them are pretty interesting and weird. Definitely recommend it!

past me loved this

Greg Heffley is an adorable character and I love his middle-school humor about his life, family (dad, mom, Rodrick- teen metal-head musician, Manny - toddler), friends (I love Rowley, Greg's best friend, too), teachers, and neighborhood.

The 'journal' his mom is forcing him to write, and the drawings he is including, are incredibly revealing even if Greg tries to shape his adventures and choices into a better light. Generally, he is a good kid. However, if you plan to be a parent and you want boys, I recommend reading this book first. Greg is 100% boy and this book is as real as it gets about a normal, if somewhat artistic, middle-class Western world boy who is, maybe, in the seventh grade in school (?). He is not entirely 'good' (he wouldn't be a normal kid if he was!) and he is still struggling to find his moral compass, and courage, on some days, although he is definitely full of charm and as delightful as smart children can be. Mostly. His parents are doing a good job with him and his siblings, even if no one knows it yet.

I recommend this book for everyone.

p.s. This is what my middle-school life was like - exactly spot on.
