I never read this as a kid so I thought I'd check it out to see what all the hype is about. But the entire story is just this guy treating everyone in his life like crap? I get that I'm not the target audience but I genuinely don't understand the appeal whatsoever.

Reading the series with my son.
Enjoying it!!
This is my SIX year olds FIRST "novel" he's so excited about reading!
Since this is intended for older kids i am following along to safeguard but there hasn't been anything tooooo terrible thus far.

It was a clever idea and very well executed. The sagacious middle-schooler struggling to find his way is a tried and true storyline. However, I was left feeling that the little dude was a little bit of jerk. I came away feeling bad for his best friend. Perhaps the next few books in the series teach the lessons that the author was trying to convey but I didn't get the sense that was the case in this book.
