Reading this is like watching an intricate tapestry being woven. There are so many strands to follow, and you’re unsure of where they’ll lead but each one matters and adds depth to the story. The book may be 588-pages long, but it constantly amazed me with how it handled grief, love, family, lgbtq+ rights and introduced us to the culture and history of Argentina. I especially admired how Enriquez asserted that the horrors of this world are not the doing of supernatural monsters, which merely feed off them, but rather a product of deliberate, evil choices and desires made by the rich and powerful.

From discussions at my book club, it seems that this book explores some very interesting and important themes however, ultimately it was too slow, dense and upsetting for my liking. I just couldn't get through it. Not for me unfortunately!
