This is just 800 pages of nothing. Neither plot nor development. Just thirty-eight chapters with no connection with each other. I was really expectant of this book because Goblet of Fire was my favorite of the whole series. I could see the vision the author was going for this but the execution was boring, to say in the slightest! Most of the times it was the repetitiveness that felt like the author was trying to reach a word count, which added nothing to the plot. New characters everywhere with no depth or purpose. Please spare me! Have never been happier a book has ended. And like always, ‘WHY HARRY???’ please stop being so dumb! You think four to five years in Wizarding world would have taught Harry to be less stupid and gullible. The last two chapters was just information dump, not going to lie, it was contradicting to everything I felt throughout the book- which was just synonyms of ‘I could care less’. I do not know what joy the author takes in killing my favorite characters and making Harry’s life more miserable! There were moments where it was very difficult to keep up with the thousand descriptions of the surroundings. Personally, I think there is too much of nonsense going on. One would not bother to go through this plain story if it wasn’t in the middle of the damn series!

Summary (spoiler-free):
Harry Potter is returning to Hogwarts for his fifth year, but things are darker and more complicated than ever. The wizard inch world is in denial about what really goin on, and Harry finds himself caught in the middle of a lot of tension, both inside and outside of the school. As tensions rise in the wizarding world, Harry must face new challenges at school, a lack of trust from the adults around him, and a growing sense that something big is coming.
My thoughts (spoiler-free):
I liked the book, but it wasn’t my favorite in the series. The story had some intense moments and a darker vibe, which was interesting, but I forgot a lot of details since the book was super long. Also, like all the other Harry Potter books the ending felt a bit rushed but I did enjoy when the entire premise of what’s been happening behind the scenes is told to Harry. I feel it’s the same storyline over and over again just written differently. I do appreciate the subtle hits Rowling gives that turn out to be big in the story later on.
Rating Breakdowns-
Plot - 8/10. The premise was good but slow and it kinda felt like it was repeating what happened in the previous books but in a new way
Characters - 8/10. I feel like Harry is very naive and his emotions keep getting to him. I feel that since the beginning of the series, yes he was grown tremendously, but still falls for the same thing. A
Writing Style - 7.5/10. Writing was pretty good, I’m not much of a third person reader but it was still good. The book didn’t need to be this long though.
Pacing - 7/10. Slow. It would very a lot through the book, one minute it the next day and the next two months later.
World-Building - 9/10. The entire primes of the story/series was really good. She brought the entire aspect of wizards, magic, ghosts etc, to life in a way that isn’t boring.
Spice Level - .5/10 🫑. Nothing at all, just a small kiss that was told about.
Tropes - The chosen one.
Spoiler Summary/My thoughts :

Minor: Death
