I listen to a lot of great books on tape as I paint in my studio (preferring a good book to music) and Picoult’s books are my favorite by far. This book was no exception. I’ve read other reviews criticizing Picoult’s style as “formulaic” and predictable. I find those complaints obtuse. What author who is as prolific as Picoult doesn’t have a formula for their storytelling? Regardless I find each book compelling and beautifully crafted. Her characters are deeply visualized with unique voices, and her research into the subject matter - whether it’s the culture of wolves or elephants or human teenagers - is so well fleshed-out and fascinating.

I loved this book, even as I found the daughter hard to take at times. One other slight disappointment had nothing to do with book itself but the narrator for Georgie. Her cadence didn’t fit with the story or character. I prefer one narrator (George Guidall has always been a favorite).

Great book. Thank you, Jodi for another compelling story.

This one was good! I really like her novels that focus on animals and an interesting issue. I liked learning about wolfs and I found the plot interesting and entertaining as well as emotional.

As always with Jodi Picoult, I got angry, sad and happy all through the book. Several times I needed to put it down to cool off as they are such emotional books.

A terrific read. Reminds the reader about the power of love. The family you meet in this book has the ability to forgive in the midst of a horrible accident. The bonus part of the book - THE WOLVES. Who new these powerful creatures could teach us so much about ourselves.

Ah Jodi Picoult. She keeps cranking out books, and I keep reading them. The last one I read I learned all about elephants. This time it was wolves. And as always, I'm never disappointed. Jodi Picoult has a way of taking very flawed characters and turning them into people we can all relate to on some level, and this one was no different. Some of these characters are not very likable at first glance. They seem very selfish. but as time goes by you come to realize why they were they way they were, and you can understand them. Great book, as always!
