What a sweet children's book. I loved it. Ronaldo is wanting to be a very best flyer. I strive to be great at my career as well, so I can understand when it means so much to you. This book is great for any age but especially great for kids. This book sure made me laugh. * I received this book for free and this is my honest review*

Cute fun children's' book with a not too Christmas-sy vibe. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It is a good read aloud book and there are a lot of carrots and flying in this, which made me smile several times through the read.

This was a cute story. I liked the use of carrots. But I do wonder why a male reindeer is named Vixen. It was a fun read.

Overall opinion of the book:

This book was an absolute pleasure to read, I thoroughly enjoyed how heart warming it was. I love how festive this book made me feel, it’s definitely the perfect read for the month of December (I would read it all year round however).

It was a book that was written brilliantly. When reading, I didn’t notice any typos or grammatical errors. If you’ve read any of my previous book reviews then you know this is something I’m a stickler for! Maxine self published this book, and considering I’ve noticed many errors in books that have been published through publishing houses, I think this is rather impressive!

Although I’m an adult I still enjoyed this book. I know I would have fallen in love with all of the characters if I had read this as a child as it’s a feel good, magical book. It’s also rather funny in parts.

In addition to the great story Maxine has written, she has also included brilliant illustrations to accompany the chapters, ones which she drew herself. They mirror the story well and would definitely spark a child’s imagination.

I enjoyed this book so much that I was a little sad when it ended as it was only a short read! There are two other books that Maxine has released that contain the same characters however, so if your children enjoyed reading this book, they can continue following the adventures of Ronny!

I probably sound like I’m being over the top with how positive this review is, and you can blame it on my festive spirit if you want, but I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say about this book! It’s so creative and imaginative. Ronaldo is one of those fictional characters that many children would wish they could meet!

Final thoughts:

This book definitely deserves 5 stars as it was such a lovely, enjoyable read. It’s a book children would enjoy being read and adults would enjoy reading. It’s also the first book I’ve given a 5 star review for so far!

I would definitely recommend picking up a copy of this book if you have children. It’s a brilliant read just in time for Christmas and it’s only a few pounds – an absolute bargain in my opinion! It made me feel so cheerful and Christmassy, you really can’t go wrong with a children’s story to lighten up your mood from time to time.

I can only give praise to Maxine for the brilliantly imaginative and creative world she has created in this book.

I thought the story was well paced, engaging, and I love Ronaldo. He has a wonderful relationship with the people around him, even the bullies who he doesn't try to "get back" for throwing snowballs at him, and its a good thing to teach kids that bullies will get what they deserve. I was glad to see that this is a series of books as there is heaps about the world that is quirky and interesting. This would be a great book to read aloud!

Well that made such a change! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Ronaldo and his flying school antics.

This is the first children's book I've reviewed. The author, [a:Maxine Sylvester|14777128|Maxine Sylvester|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1453714076p2/14777128.jpg], was kind enough to send me this e-book. I only wish I could of read it out loud to a group of children. I love to see their reactions and faces light up when I do the voices and sound effects! (Takes me back to when I was a nursery school assistant and story time was the highlight of my day!)

The story was a fun read, following young Ronaldo and his reindeer friends and family on the first part of his journey to achieve his dream, to be one of Santas reindeer on the most important night of the year~ Christmas Eve.

With lots of life lessons scattered throughout the story and some very funny illustrations adding to its appeal, this is a perfect alternative to traditional festive bedtime stories.

Children would be able to relate to Ronaldo's hopes, dreams and also fears. It teaches the reader that it's important in life to have faith in yourself, focus, appreciate the love and support of those close to you, and, above all, don't take life too seriously. It feels good to have a bit of fun, and it feels great to be a success!

Overall, a smashing kids book that is suitable for adults to read to their children, or for readers of about 7+ to read themselves. My only gripe is I had black and white illustrations in the e-book, and I'd of loved to see them in full colour. I'm guessing a physical book would be a far more enjoyable read. Long live proper children's books with full technicolour! 😉

First I want to thank the author for providing me with an ecopy of this book.

If you've been following me for the past few months you know that I read this series out of order. I started with book 2 then read book 3 earlier this month and now I've read book 1. These books can be read as standalones but I find them to be so cute and I love following along with what the reindeer are getting up to.

Book 1 is basically just an introduction to a lot of the characters you will hear about in other books. Just like with the other 2 there are lessons to be learned but those lessons aren't to in your face which I think is perfect for the age range these books are geared toward.

This was a quick read with adorable illustration that I would definitely recommend and I will definitely read them to my kids if I ever have any.

Description: Ronaldo is a young flying reindeer cadet who someday dreams of becoming one of Santa's reindeer, just like his hero, Vixen. With the love and support of his friends and family and the great advice of his grandpa he can face his greatest challenge yet, the Endurance Challenge. Ronaldo doesn't have a "traditional" reindeer name (like Dasher) so he faces some bullying from his peers. In the end this little underdog gets to be a big time hero. And despite all his slap-stick humor style clumsiness he gets to enjoy his success with pride.

In Short: I think this book would make a perfect holiday tradition for every family with children. I look forward to reading this book to my kids every year at Christmas. The story is incredibly entertaining and laugh out loud funny, even for parents!

Pros: My favorite part of this book is the amazing and exciting story. It is highly entertaining and full of positive characters and messages. I found the tale to be a wild ride and it had a wonderful, satisfying conclusion. There is even a great deal of comedy in it! This book is well written and there are occasional images that help the reader feel immersed in the scenes. Some of the images are of the funniest scenes which will really make you laugh!

Cons: I have no issues with this book.

I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Looking for a quick read to share with your little ones this holiday season? How about the newest reindeer on the block, Ronaldo! Anxious to be a good flyer and join Santa's team one day, this first adventure details Ronaldo's best day ever, including flying like his idol Vixen and eating carrot cupcakes to celebrate.

I think this would've been better as a picture book series than a drawn out book. There were moments that felt extraneous, such as lingering over Ronaldo's flying teacher and Ronaldo's bath fizz incident. However, Ronaldo was funny in his efforts and his misadventures during the brief time readers get to spend with him, like flying so long he gets icicles on his antlers and tripping into a flying formation and smashing a cake.

I thought it an interesting bit of trivia when we were told that there are traditional reindeer names and longstanding as it is, there are MANY reindeer with the same names as those in the beloved carol.

The illustrations were a somewhat adorable addition to the story. We got to see into Ronaldo's life, glimpses that made him more relatable such as posters in his room that depicted famous reindeer athletes and movie stars/singers. Some of them were better than others and some didn't really make sense, like Ronaldo's antlers looking more like moose ones than reindeer.

As long as not too much logic is asked of the story, it could be a fun one for young children to read or be read to, especially around this time of year as reindeer are prevalent in the delivery of Christmas presents.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
