This book was a look into both entertainment and politics in the early 2000s that I enjoyed reading. Because I know for certain the stunts Rick Mercer pulled back then would NEVER fly now. And that actually makes me sad. I don’t agree with all of the stunts, but maybe that’s even addressed in the next part of the memoir!

Loved it! I've always been a fan of Mercer and his memoir was exactly what I wanted it to be: funny stories told by a cynic with a big heart. I could have read 300 more pages.

Here I go again listening to a memoir from someone I have never watched on TV. Of course I know who Rick Mercer is, but political satire and comedy are not my thing but they're definitely his. This was an interesting listen (he narrates) and his retelling of some of the antics and situations he's found himself in are funny and some are very moving. He's had very good luck in pursuing his dreams and he has a good support system in place both personally and professionally. I enjoyed this memoir and his stories about him and his brother cutting down a neigbour's tree in pursuit of the perfect Christmas tree and how he convinced PM Chretien to meet him at Harvey's for a burger are hilarious. Even funnier still was how he went about putting together his "Talking to Americans" segments. An easy and entertaining listen.

I have always enjoyed watching The Rick Mercer Report as a teen and adult. The book was a departure from the show in a way while showing how Rick got into various outlets of show business. Hope to read more of his.
