Not in the mood.

This world just keeps growing and becoming more interesting.

In this book Alex's business is expanding and she is learning how to deal with her changing nature. So as you can imagine we are get more glimpses of Faerie. Alex just keeps becoming a stronger and more unique character the more this series progresses.

5 star - Perfect
4 star - i would recommend
3 star - good
2 star - struggled to complete
1 star - could not finish
adventurous challenging dark emotional funny hopeful mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Probably a three and a half star read. It would have been four stars without the irritating love triangle and the 'woe is me' lamenting from Alex.

So, at the start of the book both Death and Falin Andrews are MIA and OMG does Alex go on, and on, and on about it (rhetorical question). The Winter Queen is trying to force Alex to pick a Court.
Spoiler This suddenly stops being an issue for no apparent reason, although perhaps the final paragraph is a resurrection of the issue.
Tamara is mad because Alex, Holly and Rianna have been avoiding her.

Whilst Alex and Rianna are on their way to meet Holly at sunset in Bloom (the bar with an entrance into Faerie) they hear a loud bang which turns out to be a man committing suicide by jumping a roof. The only trouble is that the man's ghost is standing there totally confused and adamant that he didn't kill himself. Soon Alex discovers that she has stumbled across a bizarre series of connected suicides with no inkling of who or what could be driving them.

I really liked the plot of this novel. The uncovering of the linked deaths, the painstaking way Alex finds clues as to the other victims, the way she identifies ways of tracking the latest victims etc, that all worked for me.

What didn't work quite so well was the pervasive way in which pretty much everyone Alex knows, personally, professionally and romantically turns against her. The police find it suspicious that she has been involved in two cases which has subsequently been buried by the powers that be. The FIB won't help her. Falin has been compelled not to speak to Alex about anything but work. Death is accompanied by the grey man at all times. Tamara is mad that her friends have been avoiding her. I can't even remember why Holly and Rianna are angry but it's probably because Alex hasn't bent over backwards and killed herself for them (actually I have just remembered why Holly is mad but I can't be bothered to change it now). It was monotonous and boring. Even when she meets new people they instantly suspect her of illegal activities and threaten to kill her. Oh and the aforementioned tiresome love triangle.

So, four stars for the plot, three stars for the personal stuff.

Absolutely loved it! I can't wait for the next one. My only concern id that Alex my develop a bit of a "Bella" syndrome.

I'm rounding up from what is probably a 2.5 in my mind. I enjoyed it. I kind of wished there was a bit more to it. I'm not pushing for a big reveal because I like the slower pace of this series' development, but I also wouldn't mind a tad more meat to this third installment. Sometimes the handling of the passage of time between this book and the last bugged me. Things that happened would be mentioned but not with enough detail or drama to add anything to the story. Instead, I either felt slightly confused trying to remember if I'd missed something in book 2, or frustrated that it was being brought up now but not explained or made relevant to the plot of this hook. Overall though, I liked it and I will be sticking with the series. So take that endorsement and run with it. It is a fun series and all though this book might not be a highlight in it, it is a solid read.

This is the 3rd in the series and it is still going strong and was just a fantastic book. The main character Alex is still awesome and doing her thing. The cliffhanger was amazing and it just makes me sad that I have to wait til 2015 to read what happens next. It's gonna be a long wait.

lots of thing to learn in this series lots of things

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job.
