Fairly interesting Scandinavian mystery in which a young man, fresh from police training school, accepts a job in a small northern town near the Arctic circle. It’s a solid procedural set in the bleak snow and ice world of Iceland. It is one that does drag somewhat and one whose ending, while satisfying, failed to surprise. I might move onto the second in the series, but not soon. I need to get warm again.

Read it and wanted to like it because we just visited iceland...but meh.

doesnt really stand out to me to be honest
the beginning was interesting, then i lost interest for like half of the book and the ending was great, although i dont love how the story was wrapped up
writing style was not really for me, but i loved the setting

Just didn't jive with the genre nothing personal to this specific book

It's a good start. A little slow, maybe it's the translation. But overall it left me curious to read the next one.

Read for the Book Set in a Country that Fascinates You prompt of the 2018 Popsugar Reading Challenge - I have been super interested in Iceland for years and it was great to read a book set there!

Just like life in Siglufjörður, this book's pacing moves a little slower than normal. And like the snow slowly piles up there, so does the tension as this book continues. This book was a slow burn for the first 75% or so, but it picked up the pace and really caught fire in the last 25%. It's a quick read, and it was really enjoyable - the descriptions of the Icelandic landscape and weather was perfect for some wintery reading!
