The Christmas Fix

This was the coziest and cutest holiday read!

Loved the small town vibes, the enemies to lovers, the grumpy/sunshine tropes thrown into this book. I loved how Noah was a cute dad and how Cat learned how to embrace a change of plans.

When I started reading, I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series but I didn’t feel like I had to read the first to follow along well. Although I will still be reading it.

The spice was a bit spicy too. I give it 3

Swoon! All the feels. I absolutely loved this. It’s the perfect holiday read. So dang cute!!

Great book just seemed longer than necessary.

Absolutely LOVED reading this!! It was the perfect cute and spicy read for the holidays. I loved Catalina King. She's feisty, independent, badass who has a heart of gold. She enjoys putting people in their place and proving them wrong with her success when others expect her to fall short. LOVE LOVE LOVE POWERFUL FMCs!! Something I loved about her character is that she's kind of aggressive in her care. She doesn't let anyone get in the way of her plan to help the town recover from the storm and bring back the Christmas spirit. And everyone in town loves her for who she is. Ugh, always love small town romances.
Noah Yates was the perfect grumpy man for her. It was funny and kinda cute seeing how he could push her buttons just so he can be around her. He also cares a lot for the town, but is very strict with how things are ran. And that also translates to how he cares for his daughter. But Cat comes in and brings joy and light into their lives and it was so cute reading how they got together. They're complete opposites but they complement each other so well!! Seeing them happy and care for each other warmed my heart. Together they learn to grow, improve their quality of life, and bring brightness into their relationship. Lucy Score, you never fail to make my little heart happy :))

I love a good grumpy man and this was the definition of a grumpy and stubborn sexy man! The banter between he and Cat was on point! Because she refused to take no for an answer and he was known as ‘Mr. No’ haha! Yes, it was a little predictable but I still loved this story and how they got past the challenges and came together.

Catalina King is a reality TV star who became close with a family from Merry, Connecticut when she helped repair their home during an episode of her show. When a late-season hurricane threatens to destroy the home she helped repair along with other homes and buildings, she's determined to revisit the small town and film a great Christmas special for the network. But not if the city manager, Noah Yates can help it. The drama she caused during her previous visit left a bad taste in Noah's mouth and he wants nothing to do with her crew and reckless lifestyle.

People aren't always how they seem, and first impressions don't tell the whole story. The back-and-forth banter between Cat's determination to make sure the people aren't let down by having to cancel the Christmas festival, and Noah doing his best to keep all drama out of his quiet town is heavy in the first half of the book. Despite their discourse, their mutual attraction is obvious, and as things progress so does their understanding of each other.

This story is full of much-loved tropes; single dad, one is famous, enemies to lovers, small town, etc. The Christmas theme is evident, but it's in the background as the second half of the story unfolds. I enjoyed the story as a whole, but there were elements I didn't find very "sexy" in this spicy book. Noah's misogyny, Cat's unhealthy focus on food, and some physical force I didn't care for. When I separate myself from the pieces I didn't enjoy, I can see it as a nice small-town story if you enjoy a decent amount of spice and a happy ending.

Chemistry was kinda lacking for me, but it was a cute enough Christmas romance!

2.5/5 stars

I’m not sure if Lucy’s writing is for me after reading this book plus the one before it.

The book was fine. I felt like I had to force myself to read it, and every time I’d pick it up I’d only be able to read a chapter or two at a time before putting it down to do other stuff. This book felt overly long, that being said the romance wasn’t gradual, it went from hate to love over a chapter somewhere in the middle. Also Cat was prepared to throw her life away for a man……. The man who was extremely rude to her at the beginning of the book for no reason…. How he treated her would be unforgivable in my books but then for her to pretty much put her dreams on hold for him?? And I’m aware he came up with a solution to the school problem at the end (why did it take so long for that to come up when like halfway through it was obvious that was going to happen??) but still not excusable for the end of the book.

A final note why must characters in books get engaged before discussing important topics like wanting children? It makes the characters feel too irresponsible for a relationship.

My thoughts: A near perfect Christmas Enemies to Lovers novel! The start of this book was quite slow with a lot of character build up and not a lot of action - however once we had overcome that slight hump I was invested and after chapter 19 I couldn’t put it down!

Cat came across as slightly arrogant and self-purposed at the start; and Noah came across and a melancholic pessimist - however I definitely rushed my opinion on both of them; they both had such loveable personality traits and they completely brought the light out of one another.

This novel, like many of Lucy’s, this had the perfect amount of sassiness, cheekiness and charm. Another win for the queen that is @scorelucy
