First ever DNF! (40%) Could not get into this book at all. Didn’t like the main character. Really annoyed by all of the unhealthy discussions about food. Tell me why Noah didn’t like Cat because she was a reality TV host!!!! And the storyline was not interesting at all.

lighthearted
I love how Lucy writes her fmcs as smart and absolutely capable.
Cat is a "fixer upper". She does home renovations - sometimes with her brother Gannon (from book 1 - The Fixer Upper). Due to a storm, many of the homes and buildings in Merry are unlivable, and since one of those homes is one that she'd worked on before, and since Merry gets most of it's funds from its Christmas Festival, Cat decides to fix the whole town.
She runs into interference from Noah, the single dad City Manager. He's got the wrong idea about Cat from the last time she was in town - when she had to defend herself from a handsy townie - but he doesn't know the whole story and therefore, has already decided he doesn't like her, and he doesn't want her help. But there won't be a Christmas Festival without the renovations and repairs needed.
The chemistry is REAL, and Cat is everything you want in a book heroine. You won't regret picking this one up.

This was cute and there were a lot of things I really enjoyed about it, but there were also a few things that bothered me.
Cat King is a reality show darling with big future plans. When a town that she recently featured on her show gets hit by a hurricane, she's determined to fix it, but she will have to go head-to-head with the town's city manager, Noah. He doesn't want any cameras or celebrities roaming around his town profiting off their misfortune. When Noah and Cat clash, sparks will ensue!
After loving the first book in this series, I couldn't wait for Cat's story, especially revolving around Christmas and a Hallmark style town. I liked it but didn't love it. Noah was a huge jerk for 40% of this book and not in a good, grumpy hero way. Once they admitted their feelings and got together, the story picked up for me. The other issue I had was Cat's obsession with body image. It felt gross, often. She constantly talked about what she was eating or couldn't eat. I get that is par for the course for a reality TV star, but I think we can do better. I wouldn't say this book was bad, it just wasn't as big of a hit for me as the first in the series. Lucy Score writes books that you can fly through with lots of fun banter and great steamy scenes, so I'll definitely pick up more of her books in the future.
I'm still on the hunt for my Christmas rom-com of the year. I'll find it eventually!

My last (Christmas) read of the year and it did. not. MISS!!!
This was a TRUE enemies to lovers story and I ate up every second of it!! This was definitely the perfect way for me to end my 2024 reads!
The banter between both MC’s was phenomenal. When one MC fired a shot, the other one was able to match it immediately which made the story more entertaining😂
I loved seeing Cat grow as a person from the last book and how she helped Noah work through his trauma. The single dad elements were quirky and sweet and the daughter was definitely a lot like Cat😂
And, of course, the spice was SPICING!!!🥵 definitely a good way to end the year with a bang😏🤭🙂↕️
I really have no complaints about this book except that it made me blubber like a baby in the last 2 chapters and the epilogue, but I figure there are worse problems to have🙃

At first I was getting sick with the back and forth bickering. But atlas, love takes over. A great read for the holidays.

Really enjoyable story. Believable conflict, a good helping if spice, and likeable characters.
