The characters, amazing. The actual story, amazing. Ryat as a Dom, perfection! I would have loved to read more about Aura controlling the scenarios outside of ryat, think it would have given her submissive side more of a wow factor. There’s a lot of repetitiveness and I feel more than needed descriptive words. The story drags out in some places. Ryat & Aura are perfect for each other, they definitely give you whiplash, we aren’t, we are, I can’t, we can, f**k It we are doing it LOL over all a great story. I just may not mesh with authors writing style. OH! And his pet names for her… swooning over here !

Couldn’t get into it fully! Can’t explain it much but it didn’t seem to flow greatly for me. Maybe I’ll give it a go agin in the future and pick back up where I left off?

** Thank you L. Steele for the ARC in exchange for an honest review**

There is something that draws me to L. Steele's books, mostly because most of her male characters are massive alphas. While we stand morally gray characters here, the brat within me loves to banter and have an excuse to provoke an alpha a-hole. Somehow, while I was ready for Ryot to be that person, I actually found out that he was incredibly sweet! Okay, sweet within moral grey standards.

Ryot is very different from Quentin in “The Imperfect Marriage”. While he has a duty and tries to be professional while protecting Aurora from danger, he admits to his faults and mistakes. When Aurora talks to him about some actions that make her feel how bad she feels, Ryot apologizes and is hurt that he was the one who caused her such feelings.

Both Aurora and Ryot try to communicate the best they can. Ryot by exposing Aurora to his previous life and relationship and Aurora by asking Ryot to not be like everyone else who dismisses her because she’s a princess. I really enjoyed that Ryot rarely calls Aurora a princess and instead has a better pet name for her. It’s almost as if her title and the life that title brings doesn't fit them. She needs to perform a duty as princess and Ryot cannot be true to his feelings if she continues that role. Aurora’s life is in danger and Ryot cannot be both bodyguard and her husband. Aurora is also conflicted by her sense of duty to the memory of her mother and the promises she made to her and what she really wants: a simple life, a job that can provide for her and the man she adores by her side without having to go to all the formal engagements. Ryot wants a wife who adores him and a life away from violence that reminds him of his past.

“The Reluctant Wife” is a story about healing and finding that our path needs to be forged by ourselves. Ryot and Aurora are true to what they want and while they struggle with their obligations, they are a very honest couple who find happiness in each other.

I am so ready for Knox’s story! I feel like it will break me the best way ever and Knox is such an ahole that it will be the opposite of Ryot and Aurora’s story!

I loved the start of the book but I was losing intrest between 40-50%. 80% on was painful to finish. The book was so over the top cliche and predictable that it felt there was no point to finishing.

Reluctant Wife - L Steele

Thank you @authorl.Steele and @hambright_pr for this ARC ebook

This is Ryot’s and Aurelia’s story and it is filled with all the feels from page 1 until page 476!

It literally held me hostage. Aurelia is a Princess about to enter into an arranged marriage that will save her family’s kingdom from financial devastation.

Ryot is a billionaire and one of the infamous Davenport’s. He has his own security firm. He first meets Aurelia in a night club

The next day they meet again when they both find out that she is his new client. She had slipped away from her previous security team the night before.

Someone has threatened her life. Not long afterwards someone takes a shot at her through a window. Of course Ryot saves her. Now she finally believes she is in danger.

Their forced close proximity leads them both to have to deal with their original attraction to each other from the night club.

This book is action packed!  You will have to read it to see who is very serious on taking Aurelia’s life! And can she break through Ryot’s walls and will Ryot finally allow himself to love again.

I very highly recommend this book!

Ugh. I kept hoping it would get better as I hadn’t read a royal bodyguard trope in a while, but he was so cringe and she was way too much in her head. The emotional whiplash was too much. I should have stopped but then just had to see where it went.

A marriage of convenience is always a great start to any romance but when it involves a bodyguard and a member of royalty well that just adds to the fun. And when the bodyguard in question is one of the arrogant, brooding Davenport brothers well sign me up. You just knew sparks were going to fly when Ryot Davenport tried to order his bride, princess Aurelia around even though secretly she loved every second of it. After all a girl can’t make it too easy for the hero by just saying ‘yes sir’ no matter how much she might want to. When you put together a dominant hero and a plus size feisty heroine with sizzling chemistry, Throw in a comedic element provided by the infamous champagne swilling Great Dane called Tiny and a healthy dose of danger and suspense as a threat stalks the heroine but which give an opportunity for the hero to realise just how much he’s come to love the heroine I know I’m in for a sizzling read that is pure escapism. Yes, these books are a bit formulaic but hey, if it ain’t broke then why mess with something that obviously works and brings pleasure to a large audience of readers. If you’re fan of steamy, grumpy/sunshine, romances starring ex-military, angry A-hole heroes then you won’t go wrong with this author.
