I know Zapata’s books are SUPER slow and require patience. Which is fine because i felt for that kind of book. I feel like you don’t read a Mariana Zapata book unless that’s what you’re looking for. I LOVED Kulti (that was my first Mariana Zapata book).
Buttttt this isnt the story i was hoping it would be! It’s entertaining enough and the writing is decent, but its nothing spectacular

reread - great book, even though i did excuse some things because i liked the banter. theres way too much inner mologue for me, to the point where it feels like jasmine just endlessly stares at people before answering them.
also, and this might be my fault because i skimmed some parts, (and i guess its also a spoiler) but why did ivan tell her it was only for a year? like did we ever find that one out?
oh, and jasmine had a little bit of a im not like the other girls syndrome, but it wasnt unbearable
another reread - i still love this, but do have most of the complaints as in my previous review. the long inner monologue still bothers me, but this time around i just skipped it tbh.
and i guess now i realize that ivan told her it was only for i year, because he thought she wouldnt want to be with him longer, but i still do feel like it couldve been explicitly said.
my new complaint is that i feel like at the begging ivan was a bit more assholish to jasmine than she was to him, because she just said general rude stuff, but some of the stuff he said to her was actually pretty mean.
i dont reread books that often, but for some reason i keep coming back to this one.

THE VERB BLINKED WAS USED 176 TIMES!!! This infuriated me. Why didn’t she use any other word to describe feeling shocked or stunned??
This was an actual conversation:
And sometimes to describe other characters in a scene, INSTEAD OF SAYING THEIR NAME she says “…the man whose thigh I had my head on replied.” or “The other woman scrunched her nose…”
THE “OTHER WOMAN” IS THE SAME WOMAN SHE’S BEEN TALKING TO FOR THE PAST THREE PAGES. I was actually confused the first time she did this because I thought I wasn’t paying attention and there was a random woman in the room with them omg

I wanted to like this book…I really did. But I was not a fan of the writing style at all. The story line had potential but didn’t feel realistic to me. The dialogue threw me off a lot and some of the character motivations/reactions didn’t feel genuine. I found myself editing the book as I read and that instantly takes me out of the world I want to escape in.
