yet again a great time and YET AGAIN there are things becky did wrong for sure where i totally cringed through them but i don't think she was at fault just bc tarkie happened to meet that cult-y guy through her, nor is she really at fault for her dad, like she could've pushed him for answers more but every time she tried to get anything out of him he was incredibly vague lol like how is that on her

ANYWAY v interested in how usually the end of the book tells you where the next book will take us but still pretty well wrapped up and this one is a bit of a cliffhanger, wondering what the deal is with graham and everything, so i'm excited to get to the next one, and i can't believe i'm almost done with the series! would be happy if she writes more after book 9

Why isn't there a warning on the dust cover?!?!?
Before you start this book, know that IT DOES NOT HAVE AN ENDING!!! It's one loooooooong (predictable) set-up for the yet-to-be-released book #8. Book'ous interruptus. Consider this a warning... I don't want you to lose any friends, so do not give this as a Christmas gift. Or better yet, be passive-aggressive and give this book to your least favourite in-law.

An easy, diverting read. Not much has changed for Becky Brandon, which makes for both a fun and formulaic book!

I feel similar to a lot of other readers. As a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella, I can't be too harsh but goodness, this book - even in audible - was somewhat funny but mostly annoying and embarrassingly ridiculous. I was going for something light and silly, yes, but this took it to a whole new level. I really think her latest books are her best works. I think I read Shopaholic 1 and/or 2, I honestly can't remember, but leaving it on a cliff-hanger was really the ultimate slap in the face to the reader. And I think she was taking it a little far with how fake stars can be. Hollywood and high integrity characters may not be in the same sentence often, but really, this was a little much. I'm hopefully redeeming myself and some of my intellect by going to a smart non-fiction next. Sorry, Sophie, but this book wasn't that good at all.

This is exactly the same antics Becky constantly gets into but she didn't come out of them quite as well as she usually does. Still, you can't put it down.

I did not like how this book ended...

It was better than the last one but still feels formulaic. Bex is older, married and a mom and yet still has little character development. The same issues from book one feel more than a bit cyclical by book 7. And the quasi cliffhanger was presumptuous in assuming we'll come back for Book 8 to see what happens.

CHEESY

2½-3 stars.

If you go into the Shopaholic books looking for fine literature, you're going to be let down. If you go in looking for a damn good time, you're probably all set ... unless you went into this one.

Echoing the sentiments of other commenters, this book just didn't do it. Unlike most of these people, I really DID enjoy the previous book ([b:Mini Shopaholic|7415016|Mini Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #6)|Sophie Kinsella|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388191918s/7415016.jpg|9351456]) ... but like them, I was completely gobsmacked by the unlikeability of Becky in this book -- particularly because she is normally pretty spastic but completely lovable. The plot pacing was really, really off -- so that it both dragged and whirled completely out of control.

I will, of course, read the next book as it comes out (looks like the whole crew is headed to Vegas, baby!), but I hope Kinsella manages to recapture some Bloomwood sparkle.
