This was just garbage. Why can't Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) ever learn from her mistakes? Why is she constantly trying to "show" her husband that she knows better (when she doesn't). Whatever happened to being honest with your loved ones?!

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is basically a narcissistic, day dreaming liar with no grounding or common sense. Thankfully, I don't know anyone like that in the real world, which is probably why it's so jarring in these books.

The "cliffhanger" ending can do one, too. I'm done with you, Kinsella.

cliffhanger. Ugh.

Mindless chic lit. This character has no redeeming qualities- not sure why I have read several in this series.

This series is one of my guilty reading pleasures that I don't usually admit to - but they are usually fun little cupcake books. This one was pretty bad though. The whole plot was pretty dumb (dumber than usual) and then just ended abruptly...apparently a cliffhanger for the next in the series.

Selfish

How does Becky have amazing friends, a devoted husband and loving parents? She’s the absolute worst. They should all send her selfish a** packing.

I love Becky Bloomwood. I really do. She may be crazed about her shopping and brands and go overboard with her finances but she cares about her friends and family and she has a huge heart and pretty strong moral compass -- and she's so, so scrappy whenever she's in a scrape. So this book was a shock to me, because the Becky I've loved over the last six Shopaholic books was no longer there. This Becky was insanely selfish and gave up easily--and I had a lot of trouble rooting for her. There were a few hilarious moments as usual, but I didn't find myself guffawing as frequently as previous books in the series. Maybe Becky needs to get out of LA and away from all the kale smoothies to get back to her usual silly, sweet self. I'll still read the next book in the series, just maybe not as excitedly until the character I care about so much has returned.

I have always said I will drop anything at all when I see a new Shopaholic book at the library, and that's always true. This one was exactly the same as all the others, so I loved it and all, but the ending being such a blatant "buy more books from me even though I'm definitely not a poor, starving writer anymore" that I was quite angry.

I was so disappointed with this book. I really love the Shopaholic series, but this was nowhere as good as the previous installments. Becky came off as incredibly selfish and unlikeable, and I was so aggravated that nothing was resolved at the end. I really hope the next one is better.

Man this book was so disappointing.

I marathoned the first 6 books a few years ago and loved them. I remember thinking Becky's character was a little ridiculous but I still liked her. In this installment she was just so unlikable though. Selfish and vain and just downright horrible.

And it ended so abruptly without even tying up the storylines. Just awful.

Of course I'll be carrying on with the series when the next book comes out though. Sigh.

Say No To Cliffhangers

I didn't dislike this book nearly has much as other reviewers seemed to. I've read all the books in the series with Minishopoholic being my least favorite. I'd put this one above that.

While I don't think the character of Becky comes across her best in this book, I do think given her history, I can see how she'd be swept up in the Hollywood lifestyle. If anything it was weird to me that the people who supposedly know her best would be so surprised by that?

Where I do think this book goes wrong is there are entirely too many story lines. Becky & Hollywood. Luke & Sage. Sage & Lois. Suze & Alicia. Golden Peace. Bryce & Tarkie. The whole randomness with the dad...it's too much. It's like the author decided to set the book in Hollywood but had no idea where to go from there so she threw everything in and then ran out of time.

Which brings me to the cliffhanger. A good cliff hanger should leave you wanting more but this one just left me confused. Will the next book be about the dad? Is it shopaholic in Vegas? If anything I would have dropped the whole dad story line completely and just focused on Suze & Becky's antics in Hollywood. Not every book needs to have everyone end up mad at each other and not every character needs to end up in Hollywood just because it takes place there. If you don't have time to get to everything you want in a book, edit out something so you can - don't end on a random cliffhanger just because.

Overall this was a quick read but not one of her best in the series. Here's hoping the next one is better (and that the Minnie as a teen storyline is just a rumor).
