Recently I lost my beloved rabbit. We had him for 7 years, and he was my first pet. The love I feel for him is so true and loosing him has been heartbreaking. I searched for a book that would help me navigate the grief and guilt I felt. This book did so much more for me, helping me keep an open heart and open mind for the future and that we did the best we could.
A quote from the book that really hit me was this: "A sad ending doesn't mean it's not worth it, and you need other people to remind you of that."
Loosing a fur baby is so difficult, and my community has given so much love and care towards us in this loss. Would recommend this book for anyone who loves and has loved a sweet pet.

I discovered this book in the days following the death of my beloved cat. Bartels’ lighthearted yet serious tone was exactly what I needed amidst this time of fresh, painful grief. This book made me feel less alone knowing that people throughout history and around the world have all mourned the loss of their loyal, loving companions.

I cried a lot, and I felt seen. Also laughed a bit too. It was cathartic and validating and heart wrenching.
