We All Looked Up

Started out strong and super engaging, then fell apart a bit for me.

I’m gonna be so honest, so many of the main characters annoyed me. like, i get that the end of the world means desperation and heartache but it was sometimes unsufferable. Also, the ending kind of annoyed me as well, like
did they all die or not??
But overall it wasn’t horrible, it was pretty slow for the time period but yeah, pretty decent as an apocalyptic/end-of-world book.

Good book, makes me cry- the way the women are written makes me furrow me brows sometimes tho

i liked the concept a lot, but felt that it lacked a bit in the execution part.

i didn't really connect with any of the characters off the bat, a bit with eliza, and felt that a lot of their changes by the end didn't feel very realistic or genuine. they just sort of felt cardboard, but in a way that they were trying to not be cardboard...if that makes sense.

i thought the writing was okay. nothing special, but i have read worse and the plot was kinda laid out in a way that it didn't really shock me at any point.

all in all i just sort of felt eh. i enjoyed it well enough, but probably won't be going out telling everyone to read it.

Tbh it was just a little too much all shoved into this book. It felt like it took me forever to get through this story, because just too dang much happened. It was a great concept, but it just got spoiled with all that was trying to be done. There were chunks that I really enjoyed though, and expect for the big thing at the end (which I didn't even immediately pick up on,which is another fail) the last like 15 pages were great.

So yeah uhhh this was a weird read. It was not what I expected and not in a good way.

Also I just really wish it was written in first person. God that would've been so much better.

This book felt like it was trying to be thought-provoking and philosophical, but it came up very short on that. It was surface level and gave little to nothing. It was bearable but failed to do much of anything for me. Putting that aside, I can't look past how poorly written and framed all the women characters were or the casual bits of racism and transphobia.
