This book was better than the summary. The summary had me a little leery about this book living up to the first but I was pleasantly surprised! I liked how she stood her ground and didn’t bend to his overprotective will. The twists were also interesting and I am glad she was able to make Declan realize he was being an ass.

I was wondering how they would keep up the sexual tension, but this one was just was fun as the first. I liked the more political nature of this one, and I thought we got to know more about the side characters (love me some Gabriel)

This is an incredible story and honestly I think this series is what first introduced me to "Seelie and Unseelie" fantasy books.
This is Book two of the Warrior of the Five Realms series and like the first book, this one follows Declan and Evangeline through their lives filled with love and turmoil. Declan's love for Evie is so fierce that she is often viewed as a mere mortal with no magic that needs constant protecting. While Evie's magic was dormant for quite some time, it does come back and she wants nothing more than to prove herself to her Archmage and his follows that she is not just a mere mortal woman. She is the last of her kind, and being so causes other problems for her and Declan.
Even when reading this in Evie's point of view, you can tell that Declan loves her. Even though he does come off as a insufferable male figure. He wants nothing more than to keep her safe. Both of them were put in harms way throughout this book, and I do believe tragedy makes you stronger, that is exactly how they became a one single unit is through the constant turmoil looking to tear them apart.
There are so many things revealed in the last 25% of the book that I never would have come to that conclusion for any of it. Hollee is an incredible author whose stories spin tales so real you can picture them in your mind like a movie. She is also one of the only authors I can recall using such large and dignified words throughout her books. These words not only assist in furthering my vocabulary, but also serves the story in the refined way of speaking. I don't have an example.. but every time I came across one I would reread it almost with a sense of awe at how that single word was chosen for that sentence when it could easily been replaced by a much more simple word.
Hollee will forever be one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of what she creates. I am recommending this series to all readers who enjoy action filled fantasy with a touch of romance.

Ok I take it back. I don’t want a Declan in my life, I want a Gabriel.
I found this one pretty boring. I wasn’t interested it the plot, so much was just glossed over and not developed, and overall just felt very disconnected with the story. Oh also, Declan turned into an insecure dick and they couldn’t have a mature conversation to save their lives.
I also hated how weak and naive they made Evangeline. Not just physically weak but overall. There was a reason for her physical weakness but, I just like strong FMCs more.
I really wanted to like these books because the covers are so pretty but I just couldn’t love them.

Captivating and eloquently written. I struggled with our Hero, his over protective nature was a bit off putting but his undying love and dedication to our Heroine had me swooning.
“You have always been and always will be my princess. My queen. I will give you everything I have and everything I am, but not when it hurts you. Never when it hurts you.”

4⭐️ “Give yourself a chance to grow.”
Just as good as the first book! There’s more betrayal, friendship and relationships broken. Declan and Evangeline’s relationship is really tested and also strengthened. I liked the push and pull of it and it wasn’t overly dramatic bc they were always respectful still of each other.
I wish there was more spice especially at the end when all is figured out but this book wasn’t as fade to black as the previous book. Still thesaurus type language used that you’ll have to look up too.
Worth the read?: YES
Reread?: NO

This much better than the first one! The pacing is very good, and the reveals are excellent. I love the way the problems were resolved, especially the later one with Declan overflowing with power. There's something brilliant about how she's grown so much and becomes the one who actually rescues him.
I was, however, irritated with the repetitive kidnappings. To be fair, it only happens once in this book, but it happened twice in book one. I would be happy if I don't read about Evangeline getting kidnapped in the third book. Anyway. It happened. But against all the other things that I enjoy about this book, it is a small complaint.
But .... Book 3 is Gabriel's book??? What about the epilogue?! Is there no follow-up book for Declan and Evangeline??
