Reading Palahniuk you know you'll probably take a walk on the rougher side of life. Generally his work takes you down roads that you'd assuredly not want to walk for yourself but that do exist. Palahniuk has the willingness to explore these areas in his writing.

All that said, this book is simply junk. I started this book a bit ago and stopped reading it because I felt it was so bad. But I then read some reviews on Good Reads and figured I'd give it another try. Another 30 pages or so and the book's the same pile of trash. What a disappointment.

Fast read and pretty clever. The twist at the end was good. Not my favorite Palahniuk, but I would recommend to other fans of the writer.

At first I thought this might be it: this might be the book where Palahniuk finally approached the story in a different narrative tone. Having four different characters tell the story in sequences was a clever move to break away from the indistinguisable first-person narrators of his previous novels. However, he didn't quite nail it. And by "didn't quite" I mean he missed by a mile.
In his defence, I must admit his stories are outstandingly original, which is what has me always coming back to him in spite of his style. Hopefully Rant will be better.

Definitivamente no tan bueno como el club de la pelea. Pero igual se permite.
