Let's just say, this is probably C.P.'s least likely book to ever be adapted into a movie. It's just a bit too dirty and disgusting, and rooted in the world of hardcore porn. Ever faithful to the twisted tales in the C.P. collection, we find ourselves in the guts of the story of a porn star who's better days are behind her, going for a world record gang bang of 600 (you heard me) men. Only C.P. can take us into the mire and filth that would be 600 guys waiting around together for their chance to nail the same woman on film. And only his twisted mind could lead us down a road of mystery with the key players..... is one of the guys her long lost child..... has one of them fathered a child with her.....is one of them only there to murder her on film? Going back and forth from the different perspectives of all the key players, this story takes you on a very unexpected journey centered in the dark world of porn that only the mind of C.P. could truly capture in all its dirty and horny glory.
Surprisingly not as dirty as I thought it would be. This book is told in the perspectives of three of the 600 men (71, 137, and 600) and occasionally, Sheila the wrangler. There is a lot of waiting, and it gets quite annoying.
The author has Sheila recount her days leading to the big day with Cassie Wright, dropping trivia about movie and porn stars followed by "True fact" in its own paragraph. He describes things in a visceral, overreacting way. Some naked guy sits on a couch? The couch is suddenly oozing with sweat and seeping with bronzer. 600 guys and one bathroom? That bathroom is covered in semen, more sweat, more bronzer, urine, Stetson cologne, hair gel, condoms, lube, the blood of a newborn baby. I can just feel Chuck Palahniuk making this novel as manly as possible. Everything is on steroids and cunts are flying everywhere.
The ending, in true Palahniuk way, is a mindfuck. Literally (almost). I'll have to reread those last three pages again, because WHAT THE FUCK.

Better Palahniuk than I've read in a while but still left me feeling like it was too long and not doing enough with its pages.
I love Chuck Palahniuk's books, but this one was just ok for me. I have now read all of his fiction and this one is my least favorite.
I can’t say why I decided to read Snuff next, the description wasn’t anything special that particularly stood out. Still, someone somewhere spoke highly of it and so I went to 3 different book stores to find it.
The story itself isn’t very exciting, the description of men standing around being disgusting wasn’t very appealing to picture. Having the different POV’s did make this read quick, I think if it was solely focused on 1 or 2 people I would’ve been very bored. Perhaps that was the point.
Each person’s POV was interesting in their own way, learning about particular important moments and how it brought them to that grimy basement in their desire to make history.
Some of the end stuff was predictable. Overall, this one was just okay to me.

This was a pretty fun romp with multiple POV of folks participating in a porn star's record-breaking 600-men-in-one-day video. Really it was a goofy way to learn some fun facts about porn industry/history and see how many slutty movie puns Palahniuk could come up with. I both laughed and was disgusted, fun all around.
I think this was funny in the way Palahniuk books are always funny. His books are satirical and disturbing and I find them to be interesting in that way.
This was short and somewhat repetitive but I liked it

Shocking. Gritty. Disgusting. Real. Everything I look for in a Palahniuk novel. You want whimsy...go somewhere else.
