There are some strong opinions about this book that seem to mostly revolve around one aspect where they discuss Rowling. I’m also reminded of the time in my 300 level Women and Gender Studies class, where we read a book that was clearly meant for a Young Adult audience and tore it apart through a critical lens with little regard for the intended audience.

This title is a good 101 for asexual and arospec identities: I love that it incorporates so many unique perspectives from folks that identify in so many different ways. It gives good explainers for terms you might not be familiar with and genuinely tries to look at aspec identities using an intersectional lens. I think if you want something more in-depth with more theoretical depth, there’s books to graduate towards. But this is a good title for those exploring aspec identities for the first time and I recommend the audiobook which was an easy listen with a nice conversational tone.

Wow this was an excellent book that I think everyone should read no matter how they identify. I think it had a good combo of real quotes, teaching, and humor that for people trying to learn or dip their toes in the water this would be an easy intro while also keeping those more knowledgeable still engaged. There’s lots of universal themes that weren’t new ideas to me but I suspect would be to others. Personally I love a platonic relationship so enjoyed that chapter and the fear of platonic abandonment and missing out on being someone’s person… fucking real. So yeah let’s support platonic relationships and community not everything needs to be romantic! I would simply die for the little neighboring home bit that was talked about. That kind of community would be chefs kiss in my eyes. Anyway yeah read this book I have nothing but positive things to say about it and think Sarah and Kayla did a great job.

Also no one tell Emily I fully read her Christmas gift before gifting it!!!
