Good and Informative. It's nice to feel valid in a world so focused on romantic and sexual relations that it oversees platonic ones. Would recommend to those curious or who want to learn more about the Aspectrum.

It was interesting, and a bit eye opening. I liked it, a good 101 type into for those of us who already have some idea but are still very new, without feeling like a 101 type book.

General disclaimer: this is less of a review and more of my notes so i can describe the book in the future.

Sounds Fake But Okay provides a basic idea of how (some) ace people see life differently, with a distinctly podcasty tone

  • okay, so I have a base level of annoyance with "this is how allos see the world" type discourse because of the way it flattens a lot of experiences, so that should be kept in mind, but
  • repetitive, not super in depth
  • "allos don't go through this introspection" and related statements: really took me out of it lol
  • both authors narrate and have a podcast together--that'll be a draw for some people and a disadvantage for others

Wish there were more perspectives, but I loved the themes covered and felt very represented.

A great intro book for those curious about aspec identities. Something you might give to a family member if you want to ease them into understanding your aspec identity. It's a quick and easy read that still explains terms and conditions very well.
