This took me so long to finish only because I refuse to DNF books… in saying that I also got put into a slump because of this. It wasn’t bad but it just felt done before? Close proximity, fake marriage, etc. It didn’t feel like much was actually happening in all honesty the climax of the story was within the last 50 pages and each chapter felt so deliberate which normally isn’t a bad thing but it felt like she wrote out the story board and then wrote the chapters and that was kind of it? I don’t know how to describe it but it just wasn’t really that enticing to me.
I also don’t enjoy books where the problem in the relationship is stupid. Maybe some people do face an issue where that was a “break of trust” but I feel like I personally wouldn’t have gone about things that way and felt that way so it makes the climax flat for me. If you are 30 years old and mature 20 year old wouldn’t you be more open to sitting and talking about what happened? Instead it’s “I need space” which is valid but over something like this?
I liked the idea of the travel and how that was going to blossom their relationship over time but the travel aspect was over in no time it felt like… Because she felt like she needed to go home and address the marriage thing. Again, another unrealistic aspect for me personally. A phone call home to sort it out but why travel back and cancel the trip? So the relationship then developed so fast out of no where. I was really excited about reading this book but it just felt a bit bland for me. I did like the authors writing thought it did make the time I did read go fast.
I would also like to add that I read this book first out of the series so may have not hit the same for me but I don’t think having read the other book first in correct order would have changed much.

This story of Cooper and Adalyn is so very sweet! I really appreciated how conflict between the two was handled, in a mature, appropriate manner, which is a rare find sometimes in romance books.
Edit; i just finished reading this baby for the SECOND time and ugh. I loved it even MORE and you BET your ass i’ll be reading it AGAIN when i get a paperback copy!
