Calm, quiet book to relax with in a cosy corner. Getting to know Takako and her Uncle and the Jimhocho area of Tokyo was delightful. My batteries are recharged, i enjoyed the re-connections practical healing and care between the characters.

A quick, cozy and enjoyable read. This definitely isn’t the romance it was marketed to me as, but I really loved it. I think that what it does focus on (new beginnings, family, and love in the broadest sense) should be celebrated. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a low stakes read. I just wish some of the sections were longer.

This book wasn’t for me unfortunately! It was fine. I wasn’t connected to any of the characters and feel a lot was just left without being resolved. I’m not sure if it was the translation but sometimes the book read as if it were for children instead of adults.

Inspiring slice of life. A young woman turns her life around after hitting rock bottom by working in her uncle's secondhand bookshop.
Cute short novel. Some aspects progressed too quickly for the message of the story. The first half was building up for so long and the last half was a bit of information overload.
Overall, very wholesome, simple, straightforward slice of life.

This is an actual 5-star read for me. This book made me feel so light and comfortable.
I loved the relationship between Uncle Satoru and Takako. Over time, Takako gradually understands her uncle and develops a love for the Morisaki Bookshop. When Momoko arrives, Takako and I share the same feeling of dislike toward her at first. However, as the story unfolded, I felt warmth towards Momoko. Learning about her past with Uncle Satoru and the reasons why she left him and the bookshop made me cry. She is truly a mysterious yet cheerful person.
Characters like Wada, Sabu, and the coffee shop crew have all made a lasting impression on me.
I absolutely ADORE this book! I'm both excited and a bit apprehensive about the sequel since I've heard mixed reviews.
