I really love narratives of people learning to love reading. This book is a very comforting, gentle ode to an introspective kind of life. I really enjoyed reading about the customers of the bookshop and residents of the neighborhood. I feel like this is a coming of age narrative that is really important- it’s ok to not fit a narrative of normalcy nor a narrative of fierce individualism. The protagonist of this book falls somewhere in the middle of corporate drone and helpful magical realist fairy- somewhere we all manage to fit in :)
