A fun, solid mystery. Glad to have waited a few years after seeing the TV show to read it, much more enjoyable to not remember the plot or see the differences.

Ann Cleeves does character development with such finesse that you always care more about the motive then the whodunit or the crime forensics.
mysterious slow-paced

Mõrvad, uurimine ja tegelased melle meeldivad. Aga kohutavalt palju on ümbruse-olustiku kirjeldust, mis venib ja tekitab igavust.

I was totally blown away by its ending ... not that it was 'wrong' or not logical, but what a shock! Cannot wait to read the whole series.

Another great mystery in this series. It kept me guessing and I really enjoyed the characters. That's one of this book's strengths: you love all the precious characters, yet you suspect them all.

I also enjoyed the setting of Shetland, as always.

I didn't like the portrayal of Sandy; it grates on me that he's so incompetent and I wish he were more developed as a true character. And also I didn't really like the end result of the crime, but I won't say why.

I'm not sure I can forgive the TV show adaptation for making Perez blonde. I dunno...

A pleasant, well-written murder mystery. A fun escape from pandemic doldrums.
