Rainbow Rowell

3.87 AVERAGE

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I love Rainbow Rowell. So much.

“I’d know you in the dark,” he said. “From a thousand miles away. There’s nothing you could become that I haven’t already fallen in love with.”

So cheesy but I loved it

I've loved Rainbow Rowell's YA books, so of course, I had to read this, and I was not disappointed. I loved its retro vibe--I felt a sense of true nostalgia for the 90's while I read. She captured its quirk perfectly.

This book managed to be romantic without being too much. (Romance is not a genre I usually favor.) It was sweet. I enjoyed it.

More like 3.8 out of 5 stars.

I really liked this book, but it unfortunately is my least favorite Rainbow Rowell book so far (still have to read Landline!).
The characters, plot and concept were amazing! I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, but the relationship was quick and almost rushed. I feel that in her two YA books (and from my understanding of Landline), Rainbow is extraordinary at developing a relationship and that's what the one thing missing was. She had the characters and crushes/chemistry (if you can really call it that), but we were cut off short. There was no issues at all. Everything came off scotch clean, which is very much unlike her later works, as aforementioned.
Pretty much it was like adding two and two and coming short with a measly 3.5.
Regardless of the cons, the novel in general was a fun and fluffy read.

I am on my third Rainbow Rowell book and will not stop until I have read them all - I truly enjoy her work and will be very sad when I have caught up and must wait for a new book....

So far, this book is my favorite and I have caught myself laughing out loud a few times and am truly enjoying it!

I found it too slow to feel invested in the story or romance, plus I was feeling some red flags about the male main character and that's not something you want when you're reading a romance.
