Great read, pair with the Vader series as the storylines overlap

After reading the first two volumes of Kieron Gillen's 'Darth Vader' series I thought it made sense to go back and start the Star Wars series too as the events in both series run alongside each other and crossover occasionally.

This was A LOT of fun to read and adds so much to Luke's story after A New Hope as he tries to come to terms with Kenobi's death while struggling to believe in himself as a Jedi. The relationship between Han and Leia is amusingly frosty as always, too. It's nice to have the gang back together, it's like being amongst old friends again.

I liked this, but so far it's not nearly as strong as the Vader series.

It's pretty good. I like the drama. I don't really like the way some of the panels of Han Solo are drawn...kept jerking me out of the story to go "WHAT is wrong with his face??"
This might be a personal problem of Star wars saturation but I just don't feel all that invested in the story/mission. I like Leia. I like seeing Mon Mothma again. I just can't bring myself to care all that much about the Han Solo conflict or the Luke subplot. I'm going to keep reading and hope I get more into it. I have all the Darth Vader issues so I'll try to sprinkle those in at the appropriate times.

Technically a reread. This is a perfect first trade for the Canon comics. Jason Aaron has every major voice down pat.

This was so much fun to read. The action was amazing and the characters were so true to how they are in the movies (both in how they act and how they have been wonderfully illustrated). The appearances of so many great characters was an amazing choice and and there are plenty of great moments to keep readers entertained and engaged.
