I liked the way this book was written, the words making songs in my mind and placing me right in the centre of the story. While the subject matter was deeply disturbing, it being set in Nazi Germany, I found this an interesting tale of lives that were lived during the second world war. It was poignant, powerful and emotional.
Just finished re-reading this book, and this book is so great.
It's well written, and can jump around, but given it's narrator, that makes sense.
I don't really know what to say others haven't, it's just a really great book.

I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Alan Corduner. The novel is set in Germany during WWII and contains very upsetting subject matter. The main character, Liesel, was very sympathetically portrayed. As Liesel learns to read, she also learns to appreciate the power of words, both on a personal level and on a political level. Liesel receives support and encouragement from her foster family, friends, neighbours, and also from some unlikely sources. Liesel reciprocates, brightening people’s days just by being herself. There was an overwhelming sense of doom throughout, which was not helped by the use of a personification of death as the narrator.

En ganska bra och lättläst bok, kanske lite för lång ibland... Svårt att säga vad jag tyckte eftersom den var lite speciell, både med handling och hur den var skriven, men 3 eller 3,5 är den nog värd :) Kan inte riktigt bestämma mig ;)
