I see a lot of low ratings at this book but i actually love it, the characters are well described and the point of the story was to see behind them - Meg might act like a slut sometimes but I think she really wants to be with John Brooke because she is tired of the same guys who are liking her only for her body
Jo sure, might look like she hates her sister but she is at that age where she needs space and she is struggling to understand her own emotions.
Beth is just anxious and honestly I kinda relate to her, and what if she went with her family to Disney World? Her family are the only ppl she seems to trust
And Amy, c'mon now, she's only 12. She's just an immature child still, just trying to learn from her sisters.
I really enjoyed reading this book
lighthearted relaxing slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

Not what I expected. When I hear “retelling,” I expect the events in the book to match the original. This was not the case. I felt the only connections to Little Women were character names (except “Meredith) and the sisters’ personality traits. It’s weird reading a book that’s supposed to based on Little Women where Beth doesn’t die and Amy doesn’t marry Laurie (though maybe she’s writing a sequel). The story itself wasn’t bad at all, but it suffers due to its ties with a much loved classic.

I really liked this story. I really liked how Anna wrote about current issues that women face in today’s world as well as touching on upon military life as well. There were certain parts of the story that didn’t really sit well with me but I still really liked it overall.

I really enjoyed this. I feel like it captured the feelings and emotions I am acutely familiar with having been a military spouse. It was also at time frustrating because things felt under developed or rushed, but it has been ages since I read Little Women so hard to know if it is because of similarity to its origins.
