Not for me, realized fantasy might not be the best and intriguing genre.

Don't really know if this book is worth my time to review. Quite possibly one of the worst books I've ever read.

Very generic story of a farm with a heart of gold. The story didn’t seem to be able to tell if it wanted to be PG or X-rated, and the characters were fairly flat. One of the main plot points is the generic 1990s Seinfeld gimmick of oh my gosh I can’t possibly tell blah blah blah blah blah blah.  I just couldn’t take it anymore.

heres my review on my blog http://moonlitnite83.livejournal.com/82823.html

This is a book where good and evil are clearly outlined. Goodkind really makes you feel the evil and want the hero to win. A little predictable, a little unpredictable. There is a lot of violence. I could have done without some of the detail and still wanted the bad guys to lose. A well done story.

This book is one of the worst I've ever read, that's written by an author who clearly thinks it's one of the best. What we have here is a book that shamelessly steals from other famous fantasy works (not homage, just blatant theft), by gushing as much as possible about Ayn Rand, and thinking that well-written female characters means "strong women" and nothing else. A magic system for women because men are too angry and become consumed by it, a magic system for men because women aren't controlled enough, Mary-Sues and Gary-Stues abound, with the main character having all the super rare magic in the world and his love interest being the most powerful user of her own magic system, but of course they can't be together because she can't have sex. Which brings me to the sex.

Terry Goodkind treats the sexual abuse in this book in a really dangerous way. He has the main character be physically, emotionally, and sexually abused by someone, and of course she loves him, and of course he end up loving her back. This is such a childishly immature, transparent way of using sex to bring a fetishized level to abuse in all forms.

Nothing about this book is good. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

It was slow and long to get into but once I did it was a very good story
