I came into this book not knowing anything about it and is was the most surprising and weird book I have ever enjoyed. It's more than just fantasy romance. There are so many elements that worked for me in the book: romance, fantasy, magic, family relations, strong female characters, and humor. This book was delightful!

If you, like me, love watching men fall in love with women to the point of worship, this one's for you. This one hits me exactly where I live: pen pals to lovers, weird necromancy stuff, and a broken man who has to fix himself to get a happy ending. Lovers of T. Kingfisher's White Rat series and Heather Fawcett's Emily Wilde series will also love this one.

Took me a little while to get into this one, I tried a few times but it took listening to the audiobook for a bit to get me into the flow of it.
Morbidly romantic, with a tone I strongly enjoy overall for these types of Fantasy Romances - worlds that exist despite the romances but plots that can only exist because of that romance.
It was adorable overall, and I had a fun time with the book overall.
