Borrowed this from my local library in order to see what all the hype is about—but I’m still not sure. It’s not bad at all, but it is very slow-paced. I was bored for about the first 30 chapters. Eventually, it picked up a bit, enough for me to see it through anyway.
3 stars.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this but it surprised me. Took a minute for me to get into but it was a fun ride
Took me two weeks and about 100 pages to really get into this. Loved the romance, but got a little bogged down in the world building. Would have ended as 5 stars for me if not for the literal scene rewrites from You’ve Got Mail. Excited to see where the series heads and hopefully there’s more Hart and Mercy!
The last 25% of this book was sweet and lovely. Unfortunately, it does not make up for how boring the first 75% of the book was. I was not invested in the fantasy element, the romance, or the overall story. Bleh
What is not to adore about this book and characters?!! A must read for fantasy cozy, there I said it! Also, I will never think about the appendix the same. I like the world created, though not sure we can do the enemy to lovers bit again, but would like to see the world visited again. I'd also like Mercy to see me off into the next world...Books and reading can be strange connections, my dog Gracie went over the rainbow last week, and Hart's dog was Gracie, so it caught in my throat when I read about her.
Demigods. Undertakers. Anthropomorphic owls. Grief. Spice. Evil corporations. Found family. The family that were there all along. Giant rabbits that drink whisky. Queer romance. Cake. Secret pen pals.
Cannot recommend this book enough.

Another super cute spooky rom com! I’m loving the rivals to lovers vibes and the unique world Megan Bannen built. Hart and Mercy were incredible characters and I can’t wait for Twyla and Frank’s book!
Fun read with a unique zombie apocalyptic setting. I felt like there was some weird pacing- and annoying miscommunication- but I’ll definitely keep reading the series!
