An odd mix of fantasy and contemporary tones. 100 pages too long. I think I liked it, but it's hard to say
Easiest 5 stars ever!
This book was WONDERFUL!!! I absolutely am so in love with this entire story!!! The characters, the letters, the fantasy world. I am just so in love

4.5 stars. This was such a fun read! Kind of a weird fantasy mashup of “The Christmas Carol” and You’ve Got Mail”…if you can imagine that?!
Loved, loved, loved the quirky cast of characters and the enemies-to-lovers setup (as always). Some parts seemed a little draggy (total pages in the print book are 416, not the 336 listed for the ebook), and I didn’t feel that the imagined setting was always as fleshed out as it needed to be to fully make sense for readers…but I also read this while sick and on LOTS of cold meds, so it could be user error

3.75✨ it was cute. It took me a bit to get into the rhythm and with the world building but once I got it was smooth sailing. The side characters are developed beautifully. And the romance between the MC feels authentic. It’s an enemies to lovers. But they were not actually enemies they just had preconceived notions of the other. It’s a dual POV and his is great.
This was cute and the world was original. I loved the lore of the gods and the fresh take on zombies. Super enjoyable!
3.5⭐️ Super cute and cozy, but it’s 450 pages where nothing happens. Just as much nothing could’ve happened in 350 pages, just saying. It did cuddle me like a warm cup on cocoa on a rainy night though.
Well, I had a couple of issues with this while reading it but now that it's done I'm shrouded in this hazy lovely feeling that makes me want to tell everyone I love them and pick this back up. So it's gotta be 5 stars for the vibes. What a fabulous world and Mercy's family is my favourite literary family in many a year.

While reading this book I was completely imagining the story told in a Tim Burton world with a Pushing Daisies vibe adding color and the perfect amount of lovely quirkiness, and I absolutely was mesmerized by it! The main characters, Mercy and Hart, also gave off some Anna and Kristoff vibes, in my opinion ;). I would love to see this made into a movie or series!!
This was quite the story, and a surprisingly emotional read.
Looking forward to more from this author!
