Joanne Baldwin is a weather warden; one of an elite group of people with unique abilities: the ability to control weather. Jo and David, a conduit Djinn who controls the 'new' Djinn, were ripped apart before they could perform their wedding vows, and pushed onto a cruise ship in the hope of drawing a hurricane away from the mainland. The Mark on Jo is getting bigger and more powerful, as is Big Bob, the man who put it there. In a showdown between Bob and the Wardens, who will get the upper hand?

I liked this book. I wasn't overly enthralled by it, hence the two star rating, but it wasn't terrible, so as a quick read it was nice. I could read this book without having read the rest of the series, and to be honest, I wasn't even aware it was part of a series until something wasn't explained overly well, and I looked it up. This book does fall into the 'good versus evil' trope exceptionally well, yet wasn't as boring and predictable as I was expecting it to be. I won't be rushing out to buy the rest of the series, but if I see them in the library I might just pick them up.

Been so busy over the past few days I only had time to read in bits and pieces - Having just finished [b:Gale Force|2295830|Gale Force (Weather Warden, #7)|Rachel Caine|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388281520s/2295830.jpg|2302139] you plunge straight back into the story without a chance to breathe.
There were some really interesting scenes in this installment - Lewis's confession and choices, Joanne struggling against Bad Bob's influence and David's fear and fury. Of course there is also non stop action, but the strong emotions almost overshadow it.
Another entertaining read with a suprise ending - looking forward to

This series just gets better and better, book 8 had me hooked from the very first page, poor Jo can never catch a break! but now both her and David have lost their powers?! only one more book to go until book 10 is released later this year

I just can't with this series. If I had a time machine I would go back and tell myself to stop at Ill Wind and pretend they lived happily ever after as two Djinn. Each installment forces me to work harder to suspend my disbelief and this one took me a while to get into. The whole cruise ship thing seemed really far fetched and so did Joannes amazingly bad ass powers. I had a really hard time believing Bad Bob was the bad guy because the rules set up in previous installments said it couldn't happen. I'll read the next one because I've come so far if only to see what rules of the world Caine has decided to ignore this time.

Another excellent installment in the Weather Warden series. Rumor has it that this is the penultimate novel and, if so, it is winding up to be a huge ending!

This one was less about character development, except maybe Lewis, and more about the end of the world action. And it is non-stop. Not enough of the secondary characters for me, especially David, but all in all a great book.

Really enjoyed this series! The Weather Warden series is one of my favorite series and Joanne & David are one of my favorite couples ♥

Interesting story....Joanne plays the antagonist some in this book rather than the other way around, but I feel Ms. Caine just slightly missed on developing Joanne as the bad guy. I enjoyed it as part of the overall saga....one more to finish this overall story.

It's such a saddening thing that I'm almost done with this series. I've yet to read a book in it that I haven't loved. This one was still no different.

WOW! I am so freaked out by the surprise turn of events at the end of this book, and it I can't believe we have to wait until August to find out the end of Jo's journey!
