The narration on this book was well done. It started out with Gabbi, who seemed to be easily taken advantage of by family and co-workers. She came across as being extremely insecure. Based on Gabbi's relationship with her relatives, it was completely understandable.

I did not expect Gabbi to show any level of strength or confidence as quickly as she did. It was like meeting Matteo flipped a switch for Gabbi. She always came across as intelligent. The subsequent elevator scene request was totally unexpected based on Gabbi's previous behavior.

Admittedly, I had to suspend my beliefs for some aspects of this story, but that did not make it a less enjoyable read. The action in this book started early and was rather intense. I enjoyed the action, danger, and suspense. I liked the way Matteo treated Gabbi. He worked to put her insecurities at rest. He recognized her intelligence, and inner strength. He helped to boost her confidence. In return, Gabbi accepted him and his past. She also love and supported him at every turn.

I thought the other members of Sentinel had interesting character traits. I am hoping they will be getting their own books. I know Wolf has an audiobook. That is next on my list. I want Hadley, Killian, Hex, Devyn, and Bram's stories as well.

All in all an enjoyable romantic suspense that I listened to in one sitting. I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audiobook.

Hades is the second book in the Sentinel Security series, a new suspense-filled romantic series. We have seen the Sentinel team as side characters in other books but now we finally get their long-awaited stories. We met Hades in the Norcross series, so this book was one I couldn’t wait to read.

CIA analyst Gabbi Hansley had spent her life trying to distance herself from her screwed-up family. She wanted a safe and simple life but kept getting pulled into their drama. She likes her boring life so when she ends up in the middle of a gunfight while delivering an encrypted drive; she is way beyond her wheelhouse.

Former Anti-Mafia officer Matteo “Hades” spent years taking apart the mafia in Italy, his home country. Spending years undercover with the mafia has left him in the darkness. He was not expecting trouble when he went to get the encrypted drive, but suddenly his and Gabbi’s life is in danger. On the run to survive and track down the enemy, can her light brighten his darkness?

The attraction between Hades and Gabbi was slow burning. I loved watching them work together and help each to grow. Gabbi needed to come to terms with her toxic family and break all connections to them. She wanted to believe they would change but instead, they always used her. Hades thought he was too damaged to be in a long-term relationship, but Gabbi makes him long for a future together. I loved watching them grow and help with each other’s baggage.
I was so excited to see the Sentinel Security team’s series. They had appeared in several books of the Norcross Security series and always seemed so mysterious. I love that we get to finally see more of them. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the next book.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Matteo or Hades as he is known to the secret agent world and his teammates at Sentinel Security is a playboy. He loves the ladies and ladies love him, but he doesn’t commit. He’s never had the interest. That is until a CIA analyst appears in his life and they are thrust into danger does he start to understand.
Gabbi, a CIA analyst and self proclaimed “boring” girl, loves her simple life. Sure she would like to hear from her family less and maybe a boyfriend would be nice but a nice hot bubble bath and some wine on a Friday night makes her happy. When she meets Matteo for the first time she is beyond taken back by his looks. But when the pair are caught in the crossfire of some bad people they find themselves running from the bad guys together.
First off, I LOVE LOVE LOVE when a playboy falls hard and fast for a girl. And even better when she is not only beautiful but smart, kind and caring. And Gabbi is just that. She cannot see her own beauty, and has been hurt by those around her so much but her heart is kind. And to be honest she is just a badass CIA analyst. Matteo’s feelings towards Gabbi were almost instant and he could not shake this girl. And this man, he is so protective of her. Matteo fell hard, and those around him picked up on it long before he did, which always makes me so happy. While these two had some seriously amazing sexual chemistry that is not all that they had. There was so much easy banter, and playful sexual tension throughout this book. If you love romantic suspense, an amazing team of agents, a swoony hero that speaks Italian (did I mention he calls her tesoro), a highly intelligent heroine, and missions that take you globetrotting then you need to read this book. Make sure that you read book #1 in the series, Wolf. This series is stellar….and to be honest it is a total toss up on which set of characters I want to read next in this series!!!

Ex-Interpol agent and CIA analyst are thrown together when bullets start flying. He's a charming playboy; she's a practical workaholic. There's  a big dose of insta-lust to their romance and I thought the (sexual) spark off was a bit wtf. But going into it, I enjoyed their dynamics and chemistry. He sees way beyond her quietness, and takes every opportunity to uplift her. She grounds him and makes him see there's more to life than ONSs.

Plenty of sizzle, sexy times and dodging danger - she's super tough when she needs to be. But her self-esteem issues go through repetitive cycles, though he constantly shows her how great he thinks she is. And I always enjoyed a playboy falling like a ton of rocks! 😂 The book's not that deep, but it's breezy and fun.
