2.5 stars rounded up. This book fell a bit flat for me, I loved the first book in this series however this one felt a little bit too easy for me. It felt super unrealistic to me, and every problem that came up in the book ended up being resolved entirely too easily with no issues which made for a pretty frustrating book, as weird as that sounds. All of the author’s books revolve around star NFL players being absolute Prince Charming characters with zero toxic flaws, and it’s just not realistic at all. Of course I love a happy ending in books, but when a book has basically no “struggle” or the struggle gets resolved instantly, it really makes for a dull and annoying book to read.
Amazing can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
Read this in one sitting. I don't even like football. Poppy is a great character and I love the way she is feeling it her boundaries throughout the book.
Well, it was a FUCKING MISTAKE starting this right before bed. I definitely would have stayed up all night if I weren't an adult with fucking responsibilities waiting for me in the morning. As it was, I was still up until 4:30 a.m.
I loved this. I loved TK and Poppy and Ace, and I really liked the way Martin talked about CTE, and as the mom to a young boy, Ace is everything I hope he grows up to be.

The only thing that I didn’t like about was the pacing was off in the first hundred pages. Everything felt like it was happening too fast and there was no indication of how much time was passing between events. Thankfully it was slowed down after that and the book became one of favourite reads of the year!!!

Secrets and Second Chances. High School love affair turns into love lost and unknowns for Poppy and TK. Until football brings them together unexpectedly.
Not much conflict, easily resolved. Not much romance—focus was more on relationship with child and forming a family. I really enjoyed the characters and this was a nice read that did not cause unnecessary stress or conflict.

Too much like intercepted. I probably would have rated this one higher had I not read intercepted. A large chunk of this book seemed duplicative of the first in the series – the drama with the other football wives, trying to carve out one’s own identity with a superstar partner. Its saving grace was its serious discussion and consideration of head injuries in football and the impact it has not just on players but their families.
