So good I finished it in less than 24 hours! Definitely in my top 3 for romance this year. I love how Alexa drops subtle but important knowledge about brain injuries in the NFL alongside some sexy NSFW sections. A very cute, funny, and oddly relatable read!

Secret baby isn’t a trope I normally run too but if it involves Poppy and TK your girl is sprinting! When the high school sweethearts reunite its anything but sweet but their chemistry is electric! This pair you can’t help but root for. On their own they’re both strong characters but together they felt unstoppable.

What I loved is how real this story felt. TK jumping into the role of father after not knowing his son existed. Poppy trying to protect her son and also her heart from history repeating itself. Plus there’s mentions of work place harassment, gossip blogs, and the injuries that come with being a football player. But I loved the theme of female friendships that carried from book one. The lady mustangs are catty but some are supportive and I loved that Poppy had the support as she was thrown into this world.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. First, I love Poppy. I think she’s a fun and relatable character. I like the fun and happy vibes of this book. This is the same way I felt about the first book in this series. However, I don’t think this relationship is realistic at all. There are some big issues addressed here, and the author just lets them magically work out perfectly. TK barely has a personality (a similar complaint about Gavin). The two “conflicts” are summarily dismissed without discussion even though both characters displayed major red flags. I would just really appreciate more depth and realistic discussions from these books, but they are fun and cute.

I always love the secret baby trope and thought this one was done especially well. I also loved Poppy's spunk, realism, and strength. The book was sexy, but also took a hard look at football and the reality of concussions. This was my first Alexa Martin book, but it won't be my last!
