I think this could have been a higher rated book, but it was maybe a case of right book wrong time. I’ve been reading a lot of light hearted Christmas books, so this one felt a little out of place. I was immediately hooked though! The world and the magic system is very unique and interesting and I loved the descriptions of and commentary from the nightmare. The plot lost me a liiiitle bit in the middle, but it ended really well. I’m not sure if I’ll read #2 right away just because it’s such a dark, gothic feeling fantasy and it’s just not the vibe I’m looking for right now. I wish I would’ve read this in October!
