This story was so much different from the first meaning that is was so much story added in this. I feel like this could've been wrapped up in the two books but I guess I'll need to read the third book to see what more needed to be told in this series.

The most accurate quote from this: “Every good story needs a villain, but the best villains are the ones you secretly like.” Even though Jacks was kind of crazy terrible he was my favorite.
I loved the vibes, but writing was somewhat questionable and didn’t always make sense. Some of the quotes I found just within one chapter:
* “They smelled of him, like ink and secrets.”
* “…a tarnished silver door, the color of disillusioned dreams and bad decisions.”
* “smelled of dashed dreams and cheap rum.”
They must have different sensory abilities in Caraval because what do these even mean

Idk, I feel as though I’m just not completely vibing with these books? I’m still enjoying them but something is just missing and it’s hard to put a finger on it. Is it that the characters aren’t well enough developed? Or the relationships? Or is it that the plot just seems very convenient? Issues are solved willy nilly with no real struggle or sacrifice. Everything just feels… overly simplistic? I think the worst part for me for the overly simplistic plot was where Tella had a resolution to her fatal problem overnight (won’t say more for sake of being spoiler free but IFYKYK). I mean… come on.

I also don’t feel that I was particularly shocked by any of the plot twists at the end, nor was I impressed by the tried-to-be-a-love-triangle at the beginning either, just wasn’t convinced.

However, I will say the romance part (although not perfect) I did slightly more enjoy than in book one, felt more realistic. I’m just hoping for some miracles for OUABH at this point because maybe I’m just not completely vibing with Stephanie’s writing.
