I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this as much as Caraval, but I ended up enjoying it more! I absolutely loved all the twists and turns and the more magical side of this story. I really enjoyed Donatella's character as well. I am eager to see what happens next.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, and just like in the first part, I didn't enjoy the mc at times... the main events happened exactly how I expected/imagined them, but I'm not disappointed at all.
The writing style is really comfortable and nice to read, plus there must have been real magic in this one too✨️

Garber does it again, murdering my expectations and burying them with the heart she stole from my chest.
While Caraval was about selfless love, sacrifice, and saving someone you love, Legendary is about saving yourself. Sometimes to save someone you care about, you have to save yourself first.
Tella generated a lot of debt to save herself and her sister from their father through Caraval. Now, her "friend" is calling in her debt. To pay her debt, she must bring him Legend's name. To discover Legend's name, Tella must win Caraval. If she doesn't deliver, she will risk losing everything, including her own life.
And like Tella, if you think you already learned all there is to know about Caraval the first time, YOU. ARE. SO. WRONG.
I loved the emphasis on self in this book, how Tella is racing against the clock to save herself. This concept makes a unique and profound contrast with Scarlett's point of view in Caraval. Tella is less perfect that Scarlett, and I like that. I like the boldness, the impulsiveness, of Tella, and as the story proceeds we see how layered she is, revealing her bravery and even her fear. We get to know Tella so much better than we did Scarlett in Caraval, her past plays so much into the story that it's hard not to feel personally invested in Tella.
I loved that there were so many recurring characters. It was incredible to see Julian and Scarlett after Caraval and the players that you weren't sure were players. All the same people in an entirely new world.
Legendary is fierce and fast paced, while still managing to be as magical and descriptive as Caraval. The ending is better- it's imperfect. Caraval ended so perfectly that it was anticlimactic, but Legendary is not that way. There were so many plots and subplots that I was seriously afraid that the ending would be a letdown as well, but I was not disappointed. Caraval stole my heart again, and this time it didn't give it back.
And that Legend reveal?!
Go into this without prejudice from Caraval. And don't start it right before bed, otherwise you may not sleep in the race to win Caraval and discover who Legend really is.

Riguardo i personaggi nuovi:
- Jacks è uno dei miei personaggi preferiti, naturalmente. Amo i cattivi scritti bene, e lui è scritto molto bene!

English review:
This book really surprised me! Since I didn't like much the first book, I was reluctant to start this... thankfully I did!
Let's start with Tella, the annoying little sister whom in Caraval (let's be honest) got us to yell till our lungs gave out. The Tella in this book is a whole other person! Reading her POV was really interesting. Tella reveals herself as a very courageous girl, cunning and not shallow at all (like she seemed in the first book).
The plot in Legend is very well done and I preferred it to the first book. More intriguing, it interested me more. It left me with an empty hole when I finished it! I need the third book!
About the new characters:
- Jacks is one of my favourite characters, obviously. I love well written villains, and he's written very well!
- Dante is not a new character, we've met him previously, but we really get to know him in this second book (no spoilers, who has read the book knows).
- I'd like to say something about Elantine too, the empress has an important role even though we haven't seen much of her. She seemed a very respectful noble woman.
- I hate Armando (ofc)
- I don't know what to think of Legend, he leaves me perplexed every time.
- I don't know what to think of Paloma either, will we get answers in the next book?
The epilogue left me with so much curiosity! I don't think I'll be able to wait for the italian edition.
I expect many great things from Finale and I hope Garber will not disappoint me/us!
