Harper finally admits to herself she's got a thing for her brother. ::shiver:: But, she also stops calling him her brother. I'm told by a coworker that they've only known each other since they were teenagers, so there's really nothing wrong with it. Hm. We'll see. It's slightly less creepy, and I was happy to see that the murder in this book had nothing to do with incest (though it was strongly hinted as a possibility several times). Perhaps that's supposed to subconsciously draw the reader in. I dunno, I was sufficiently creeped out by the last book that I had to take a peek at this one. So, creepiness might be a better selling feature than actual plot. (shrug). I guess she knows what she's doing, because I'm already downloading the next one.
BTW: The narrator is pretty good... she's easy to ignore, which is important in an audiobook.

I was hoping the second book would improve over the first, but sadly it had the same weaknesses: inconsistencies, unnecessary repetition, obvious bad guy. I knew right from the beginning who had done it and why. Harris needs work on disguising who committed the crimes until father along in the book.
I also would love more corpse finding from the main character and less sitting around in hotel rooms. This was a common theme in both the first and second books.
But that being said, I love the premise of these books, and I'm not entirely ready to give up on them. They do keep me reading in spite of the glaring mistakes. But my library doesn't have the third book in this series (though it does have the fourth?), so I'll be taking a break for now, which is probably a good thing. I need some time to forget about the things that bug me in the series so I can go back and just enjoy what should be a fun story.

I raced through it, I really enjoy this series, easy to read and entertaining . I was pretty sure who was responsible early on but I didn't mind that at all since I was intrigued by teh interplay of characters.
These books are delightful in their simplicity without being annoying. The main character is completely likable and to know there are only 4 books int his series makes me a little sad.

Grave Surprise was my first foray into the Harper Connelly series, and it definitely makes me want to read more, whether it’s the graphic novels or the original novels.
Harper and Tolliver are asked by a college professor to come display Harper’s talents to a class that is meant to debunk her talents. Instead, she actually uncovers the body of a girl she had helped unsuccessfully to search for previously.
I loved this storyline, the characters, everything about this! I will be searching out more!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this to me in exchange for an honest review.

This graphic novel is an introduction for the author's series, I've never read her books, but thanks to this one, I'm willing to.
When little Tabitha disappeared from the front of the house, her parents hired Harper Connelly to help find her and bring a closure. Harper is psychic, she can connect to "dead" people and read their last thought. Harper couldn't do anything, for little Tabitha seems to have vanished.
When Harper is invited to a TV show by a professor wanting to prove she was a fraud, guess who she found in one very old grave? and in a completely different town?
The start was a bit slow, but then the pace got quicker and the events more and more interesting. I had my doubts on who did it and why, but I needed to go further for a confirmation. It was a great light read, and am giving the novel a try as soon as possible!

Sooooo how do I rate this. Firstly, the mystery was not as good as the first book (more of that in the spoilers section). Secondly, there was a lot fat shaming which I did not enjoy. And third (and most important reason) that I didn't enjoy this as much as book 1 is in the spoiler section. I will continue with book three because I have a physical copy buy idk, maybe C Harris is just not for adult Shontelle to enjoy hahaha
Did it really have to be the "villainous lady??? Come on. And the relationship developing with her" brother"?!?! Yuck no thanks, I no want
