This was totally different than I expected in a wonderful way.
This book is about people doing the right things for the wrong reasons and the wrong things for the right reasons - or rather doing what they believe to be the right things but for the wrong reasons, or the wrong things for what they believe to be the right reasons.
I loved how this book took characters and put their flaws centre stage but didn't make them hateable necessarily. The characters felt real in a way that a lot of literary characters usually fall short of.
Also, the title works SO WELL with the plot. It takes about the struggles of being a teenager and the struggles of being in your 20s, and 30s... its about how its hard to be any age and fun to be any age. How we can make mistakes at any age.
If you like a good character-driven book, I highly recommend this one!
(Also, Briar was my favourite part of this novel by far. I love this kid.)

Such a Fun Age by Kiley Read is a book that I’ve literally seen everywhere.
This book touches a lot of complex issues. The characters and their interactions are also layered and complex.
It highlights different forms of racism and how performative actions and activism can be detrimental. It brings up lots of discussion and reflection such as white feminism versus intersectional feminism, White savior complex, privacy, consent and unconscious bias.
All of these themes and the constant micro aggressions throughout the book SHOULD make you uncomfortable and make you reflect, although it is at times, disturbing to read.
Despite the heavy topics, it is a very easy book to read and very enjoyable.
Definitely recommend this book.
