Finally this comic is in physical form! I read this many years ago and to now get the book in my hands feels amazing. Gosh I can’t wait for the second book and for the story to change! Ahhhh! Oooo and the art is amazing with the backgrounds being my favourite part.

This is such a fun webtoon. It’s funny, beautifully drawn, and full of interesting characters and stories. I first read it a few years ago when it was still relatively new on webtoon, so to see it now in a physical format is super gratifying and deserved.
The physical edition adapts the webtoon pretty well, though there are a few scenes that I wish had been arranged into the page spreads a little differently in order to try and maintain the original webtoon’s flow. This was a minor issue though! The physical version is gorgeous; the colors are so lush and vivid! I also really enjoyed looking through the extra comics and seeing how much the artist’s art style has changed (I love both the old and new styles, I can’t choose one over the other. Both are so pretty!!).
I definitely recommend reading this story in it’s original webtoon format, but if you’re a fan on Castle Swimmer, or just like really pretty fantasy comics with a funny cast, then definitely pick up a physical copy. It’s super worth it!

I liked the concept of this graphic novel and the art was super cute. I’m not completely sold on the story yet, but I’ll give it one more volume to reel me in.
⭐️ 4.5 stars ⭐️
Two mermen are stuck in their prophecies. Maybe together, they can be free.
This was SO CUTE.
I loved the art style and the concept, and the main characters were adorable.
The magical underwater world and the prophecies were very interesting, and I’m curious to see what other adventures these cutie mermen get up to.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
“You can read minds? Amazing! I didn’t know the beacon could do that!”
“… No, I can’t read your mind.”
“Oh.”

This is a poorly crafted review, but I finished late at night and still want to jot down last thoughts. Very cute, unfinished story waiting for the next installment. I really enjoyed the little extras at the end explaining the mechanics of some of the culture for the sharks, including the materials they use for scrolls and armor. I would have loved to see a side by side comparison of many of the prophecies with a brief interpretation from each tribe, maybe like a rundown of a few Kappa had already interacted with. I have some guesses of what's coming next, but I think that might give me a better chance at correct foreshadowing. The ending for this book felt fairly abrupt, and I know that the online version is far more complete, so I hope to see book two soon!

I've read the beginning of this story many times via Webtoon, but haven't ever gotten past season one. It's just easier for me to read more physical types of comics, so I'm really glad this wonderful story finally got a physical print. I really love the beginning of this story, it immediately sucks you in with the appearance of the Beacon, and it uses a lot of good showing, not telling techniques. The shark's dilemma is well constructed, and I like how Siren is in conflict with his culture without openly rebelling -- he simply has some moral setbacks, and the family around him accepts and honors this about him.
