This was a great mystery. The author had me suspecting everyone at one point or another, but with enough information to support the conclusion throughout the book. The writing is top-notch and she does an amazing job of delineating characters' relationship with just a line or two. Well done.

I do have some issues with the Bridget Jones-like self-esteem of the main character. It took me out of the story. I think it was done to make her more vulnerable but it just rang false. I'm putting this under a spoiler even though the self-descriptions happen on nearly the first page.

Written in 2007, some references seem dated now (Threshers anyone ?)

A small cast of characters made this somewhat predictable

All a bit Happy Valley but without the grit or plausibility

I came for the North Norfolk settings, but other than a few place names thrown about there was no more detail or sense of place...

Still, there are many books in the series, it just wasn't for me, sorry
