***ARC Review***
This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.
This book is ridiculous and fabulous and I want all of you to read it. It’s delightfully unhinged and I can’t properly put into words how much I enjoyed it. Suspend your disbelief and just buckle up and enjoy the ride. This book is cheeky, zany, and so over the top. I couldn’t stop smiling.
Scotty and Brody are a mark and a hit man. They shouldn’t fall for one another, but they eventually do, after several questionable comments and actions. Honestly, the things that come out of both of their mouths would be concerning, if it wasn’t so fitting for their dynamic in this story. You definitely want to check the content warnings on this one though. There is internalized homophobia for you, if that’s a triggering. There’s also a sizable amount of dubcon at the beginning.
Brody is questioning things about himself after meeting Scotty. For whatever reason, he can’t seem to pull the trigger. Scotty succumbs to instalust (and love) and it’s totally endearing how open and honest he is. Brody and Fee (and Kincaid) have some things to work through in their relationship. (This story features a married couple with an open relationship (that are close to unraveling their union); cheating is not featured). Brody is slower to admit what’s happening between Scotty and him but when he gives in, sparks fly.
A lot goes on in this book. It’s a wild and crazy ride, but it it’s so captivating and entertaining. Honestly, Scotty and Brody’s relationship is unconventional in terms of their love language, but it works for them. Brody discovers important things about himself in this book. Scotty finally finds unconditional love. The (real) bad guy gets what’s coming to him. The HEA is both violent and heartwarming. That epilogue destroyed me in the best way possible. I devoured it.
Tatum is Scotty’s best friend and so help me I cannot wait to read his book, if Lansdale’s teasing near the end of this book is true and he writes it. 😉 In the meantime, enjoy reading this book. It’s going to stick with you!

WHAT?
I’ll say that again.
WHAT?!
I suspect that’s the universal reaction to this book. What did I just read? Whatever, who cares! I was entertained. This shouldn’t be a safe-for-me book, and yet, it is. Not because the situation isn’t complicated, but, because the heroes are with only each other throughout the whole book, even though one is full-on married to a woman. He sleeps, literally, next to her once, but doesn’t have sex with her on page in this book, ever. It's an open marriage. She's off screwing Brody's friend for most of the book. Phew, okay. My kind of messed up! LOL. The marriage adds a complication but not one I couldn’t read, so…I went with this crazy little thing called…well, I’m not sure love’s the word for it.
Brody’s a hitman, and he’s supposed to kill Scotty. Scotty, for some bizarre reason we won’t study too hard, thinks this stalker who carries dangerous weapons is playing a weird kinky courtship game, and he’s into it hardcore. He assumes pretending to stalk and murder him is Brody’s love language, and Scotty’s game to play, falling for Brody all the way, even before he knows his name. Scotty’s all in, making assumptions of relationship bliss, calling Brody his Murder Daddy before Brody can say “I don’t.” In fact, Brody never does say I don’t or no, he keeps going along with Scotty’s assumptions without rhyme or reason, except maybe he needs this bizarro romance and weird connection as much or even more than poor reviled Scotty does.
But it’s Scotty’s own homophobic politician father who put a hit on him, and if Brody doesn’t complete the job, more lives than Scotty’s are at stake, including Brody’s own wife’s and that of her longtime lover, Brody’s best friend. What’s a bewitched, bothered, and bewildered hitman to do, given he’s having his own bi-awakening at Scotty’s hands and soon no more able to hurt him than give him up?
There’s just no way for this to end well, and the fact that it does is hilariously entertaining. It’s like reading Snatch or Pulp Fiction, with the escalating situation becoming more bizarre and intertwined until the noose is tightening to the point of no return and you’re still pulling on the rope, asking for more.
I wished, so much, that there had been more to the revelation that Brody is married. Scotty just shrugged it off, and I was like, NO I want some CONSEQUENCES to this revelation! Conflict! Emotions! But nah. It was like oh, thanks for telling me. Okay.
Hrmph. Missed opportunity.
This is one of those “so wrong it’s right” stories that you just shouldn’t question too hard. You’ll love it or hate it, but you certainly won’t forget it. I didn’t always feel powerful emotions between Brody and Scotty; Brody remains a mystery even to himself, and Scotty is a little too oblivious to be credible, but, you know what? I just went along for the ride anyway, and for that I give it 4 F’d up stars.
Brody’s level of denial and homophobic commentary went a bit far for me too, even though Scotty rolled with it and called him out on it. I didn’t enjoy that and would have rec’d tweaking it. The ending, which resolves the situation with Scotty's father, also went OTT to a place that seemed bizarre even for this bizarre book, and not credible. But, not my circus, not my monkeys. And make no mistake—this is a circus.
HEA, hitman-target romance, light kink, suspense. No cheating between MCs, no others on page in the book. Huh. Yeah, it’s true! Recommended for the not-so-faint of heart.

Thank you to Gay Romance Reviews for the eARC of this over the top outrageous romp.
I will be referring to the characters as Baby and Daddy - I'm sorry, it's just how I thought of them throughout.
I’m actually not sure what to think… it’s ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I would be fairly positive about it except for there being a rather large aspect of internalised homophobia. It is very heavy on the 'fuck off I'm not gay' for the first third of the book, and outrageously Baby doesn't seem to understand that it's not a joke? I'm not sure. I do feel like it was taken too far with very little explanation as to why.
The plot was somewhat underdeveloped, but was still interesting. Unfortunately that means I'm disappointed because it just didn't live up to potential. I could have done without the card game. It came out of left field and added nothing to the story or characterisation. I would have much preferred more on Baby's childhood and actual father, the assassin organisation, even more narrative of the time on the run instead of a card game that just reeked of console RPG mini-game. I hate them in RPGs and I hated it here, I'm sorry.
Ok, but trying to put aside the internalised homophobia and the card game, this was an outrageous romp and I DID laugh out loud several times.

As his agency's best assassin, killing Scotty Levinson should be a cake walk. Only every time Brody tries to take him out, Scotty always seems to get the upper hand and thinks they're dating and doing some kind of kinky role play instead.

Scotty is absolutely unhinged, and I loved his character so much. Brody honestly never stood a chance 🤣🤣 Their story is ridiculously OTT and I loved every minute of it.
- hitman + his target
- touch him and die
- insta-lust/love
- grumpy x sunshine

I’m definitely the outlier in this review section. It’s me, not the book. The book was written well, easy to follow, clear storyline, defined characters.
I am normally obsessed with OTT possessive, toxic, unhinged men. Something in this book didn’t hit me right though. What was supposed to be a hilarious story just made me sad. I was so sad for Scotty most of the book. He deserves a better everything.
Brody frustrated me with the internalized homophobia, I was warned it was there, I’m not basing rating off of that. But it didn’t always stay internal, so warning for that.
The book promised to be unhinged and it fully delivered!

So I’m not sure what I just read but I absolutely loved it and I feel like a therapy appointment is in order for me to sort that out.
Five unhinged stars. This was a wild ride and I can’t even begin to describe it. It’s hilarious and unhinged and I said WTF at least twice a page and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Also if you’re of a certain age, you will have "Scotty Doesn't Know" from Eurotrip stuck in your head for the ENTIRE book.
One last thing I will says is 👏 Read 👏 The 👏 Content 👏 Warning 👏 It is wonderfully detailed and you can better decide if this is a book for you. Hell there’s even an additional word of caution from the author. Proceed with caution.

Girl what in the unhinged twink did I just read and why did I enjoy it?
So, the author was kind enough to send me the eARC to this after I offered to review it and I am so happy I got the chance to read this. It is completely un-fucking-hinged. It was perfect for my want of a MM romcom meets murder.
Listen I cannot even review this without saying how gloriously unhinged this is.
Anyways thank you Lance Lansdale for letting me read the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Did I mention this was completely and utterly unhinged?

I thought it would be fun to read something a little zany but I just couldn’t suspend disbelief enough for this to be entertaining for me personally. I’m sure others will have a ball with this book!

F**k, Marry, Kill Me, Daddy by Lance Lansdale is a delightfully murderous & scintillating tale of an ostracized gay boy & the hitman who loves him! I had the best time reading this book! (As I have with each of Lansdale's books in the past.) I can't sing enough praises for FMKMD! Just read it!

What a riot i’m not sure which character is the most psycho Brody or Scotty and that’s before we meet the rest of the characters .
When Scott’s father hates that he’s gay and puts a it out on him Brody is the Hitman but Scotty thinks it’s all a game and Brody is his stalker because he wants him.
I don’t think i have laughed at a book so hard for a while Scotty was totally over the top crazy and Brody wasn’t far behind .
Brody kept telling Scotty he wasn’t gay and he did deal with a lot of internalised homophobia but in the end he fell hook line and sinker for him, and god help anyone who touched him including several inanimate objects 😆
