Re-rerating. It seemed more Young Adult written. The plot is great, I love the story, just feel it was written a little.. different? Can’t find the words! Still think about this one, though. So wanted to rate it a bit higher.

This book was on a list of “Halloween books”. I’m not sure why. Sure, there is a mystery and I think once the character mentions it is fall… but there’s nothing else spooky about this book.
It’s a very typical mystery book. I liked the main character and felt she was written well, but the actual plot was just fine. Nothing exciting really happens.
It’s obvious from the first time she meets Andrew that he’s the bad guy. I was slightly surprised by the ring leader of the whole situation, but not enough to feel satisfied with the store.
Perhaps if I had been presented this book as just a mystery I would have felt a bit better about it, but it was predictable and definitely not spooky.

I was so lost in the plot of this book that I read it in two days! & that is saying a lot as someone who recently rediscovered my love for reading. There was so many twists making the read more intriguing. I highly recommend The Orphanage By The Lake.
