fine fluffy bs, but slightly less good than the first one. the couples swapping got repetitive. at the end of the first one, it seemed like beatrice was going to break off her engagement to teddy so she could be with her guard connor, which would then leave teddy available for her sis sam to pursue, since sam did actually make out with teddy first. but then they end up staying together after all, and sam lines up a new duke "to make teddy jealous". similar to how daphne manipulates ethan (knowing that he was in love with her and would do whatever she wanted) to start hanging around/dating nina to keep nina away from jeff so daphen can purse jeff again. meanwhile, slowly but surely daphne realized she loves ethan, and ethan and nina develop real feelings for each other. just like sam and marshall do, even though they both claimed they were only trying to make their exes jealz. it just got old, there are only so many reimagining's of she's all that.
i didn't mind beatriz holding off on getting married, trying to fight the patriarchy however she could. but the ending was pretty anticlactic. and it semes like daphne never really had to face the consequences she should have. it almost seemed like we were supposed to feel bad for her that in the end she got everything she ever wanted when jeff offered her some ring and a chance a future together. but since she knew deep down she really preferred ethan, this was somehow a hardship. bitch please. that storytelling only works if she turns down jeff, which she didn't.

This had me shouting in the car and visibly wringing my hands on a walk.
3.5 probably but these are sucking me in much more than I thought they would! Such an easy and fun read but enough substance that I’m really enjoying them.

A haiku for you:
Still silly. Still hooked.
Why am I reading nonsense?
Yay, escapism.

I find myself enjoying this story and these characters more and more as they evolve through the series. This book had a great flow and I was continually engaged in the story.

Really enjoyed the 2nd book more, which is very rare as I often prefer the first ones! Can’t wait to read more!
